Swelling after hydrocelectomy

Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience I have had following a hydrocelectomy. I am now 10 weeks post op and still have some swelling (egg size) I saw my doc about 5 weeks after surgery and he didnt seem concerned and doesnt want to see me again till December. I have read it can take 3-6 months for all swelling to subside but I was just curiouse if anyone has had the same problem as me as I am still kind of nervous.

I just had surgery 1 week ago. I am on here trying to find out is it normal that my testicle is way bigger than my normal one. It feels to be three times the size and not sitting right inside the scrotum. And not shaped right either.

yes its 100% normal it may stay a little but larger permanently too. Mine was the size of an orange for a good 2 weeks after surgery 4 years later its still about twice the size it was pre hydrocele.

my hyrdocele was the size of a coconut, 24 ounces of fluid, plus they removed the bag it was in. ice, or frozen bags of peas did wonders for me to control swelling..let me know what your surgeon says monday, but. i think you are doing very good;) bless you as well.. john wisconsin. usa

my hernia surgery was 6wks ago then by the 2nd wk i notice swelling above my testicle so they drained it and or was right back 2 days later so that Monday he drained it again and then did hydrocele surgery that Friday 13th and now in the 2nd i still have swelling above my testicle. i know it was fluid before the surgery bc my primary doctor dis an ultrasound and found 3 pockets of fluid. My testicle feels normal but a little sensitive but like i said the swelling is above it, like on top of the nut and from around it is the size of a tennis ball

i had my hydrocele surgery aug 29tg 2019, checked oct 10th, swollenbut smaller, and another ultrasound this past week thursday a few days ago because i not8ced new swelling, mine is hard as a rock between boiled eggand tennis ball ontop of my left nut, they told me its fluid, bloody etc trapped above my nut where the hydrocele originaly entered, my uroligist said, its nothing to worry about, it will slowly absorb back into my body in time, they suggested supportive underwear, i wear Equipo briefs kolhs dept store, and using a heating pad to help circulation of disolving the cyst faster. i have no pain, or sensitivity.. but, both testicles quite healthy.

You will have swelling, you may think that it's not normal, well it is. Just had my second surgery for my right one. Looked good after a week, then it swelled like a grapefruit. We are all different, healing is different for everyone. The last week has been hell, just have to be patient, it will heal itself. It takes time, (by the way I'm not patient) just do what your told to do. I'm hoping in 6 months, yes 6 months it will get better. Hopefully better, but that's not perfect. I've gone thru hell for last 6 months, the next 6 should be better. You will here this pharse alot ," ice is your friend, just do it, it will take . Man I wish that 5 or 6 days it would be over, not going to happen. O'boy, just hang in there.

it's been 3 years since surgery everything is good except the testicle remained about 2 times its normal size which i guess is pretty normal.

Ridge, why do you say the last 6 months have been hell? Did your first surgery fail and you had to deal with the size the past 6 months?
I'm 9 weeks post op for my right testicle and my incision is still sore and i still have some edema that needs to resolve, but the back/side of the right testicle is sensitve to the touch.
has anyone had that before?
hope you continue to get better.
thanks.

hi, well mine now today ,march/11/2020, still swollen on top my left testicle , its still hard above the incision, my last ultrasound showed that i have an heamatacele. which doc said probably result of my surgery last summmer.. doesn't hurt, but if i hold them a certain way and my scrotum is warnm looks like i have 3 testicles, but its so much smaller than my original hydrocele that hung over my leg! both my nuts seem higher then they were originally. odd thing is in the beginning they said use ice to hold down swelling , but this is haemetacele is like a blood fluid buildup, which they said sometimes dissolves faster using a heating pad, i tried that, 3 times, but. each time my nuts aches the next morning.. no thank you, so, pain free, ill leave nature take its course. still much bettersize wize than when i started. and all my sexual equipment works trouble free. so, im happy.. at least now when im put in public, people dont stop and stare at my enormous package i had with the hydrocele. i look pretty normal dressed now..good luck!!

Thanks for the reply. So did the doctor say the haemetacele should eventually heal on its own ? No surgery needed? I thought the hardness above the incision and the side the hydrocele was on was due to the hydrocele sac being stitched up and not removed. It just seems odd to me why it would be above the incision which was middle of the scrotum .
I dont see my surgon till mid april for a followup. Maybe ill have to see the doctor before that see ifs a haemetacele .
Thanks again for the info.

hello, yes, the doctor said some of this bulge above the insicion is from stitching up the hydocele sack, he said he does not want to do more surgery on that, and it has gone down shrunk since ive had the last ultrasound. And because my hydrocele was so big 24 ounce, the bag stitched up to stop it from coming back it way up on top of left testicle, ive allways had very large testicles left being the biggest , and yes, my doctor believes it will absorb shrink and slowly go away on its own eventually . i was happy that i didn't need more surgery! this may sound odd, but they still look impressive, so, as long as its not dangerous or risky to my health. im happy with my results. im still glad i had the anoying hydrocele removed. i wish you a smooth road ahead;) when in doubt call your doctor, i did.. everyone's body is different yet similar. i hope my answers help you.;) chat anytime.. John

Hello. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago . Mine is still hard above the left testicle where the hydrocele was. Also hard above the incision which was middle of scrotum. It sounds like its fairly normal due to the hydrocele sac being stiched up. Iam hoping in time it softens up. So i think you are ok
