Swelling after hydrocelectomy

Posted , 86 users are following.

Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience I have had following a hydrocelectomy.  I am now 10 weeks post op and still have some swelling (egg size) I saw my doc about 5 weeks after surgery and he didnt seem concerned and doesnt want to see me again till December. I have read it can take 3-6 months for all swelling to subside but I was just curiouse if anyone has had the same problem as me as I am still kind of nervous.

Hi all , just to update i had my surgery last October , post surgery period was not bad , had some pain but for me was normal , I didn't put any straps or joggers , start drive the car after 3 day's after surgery , my surgeon advised me to keep it extremely clean..

Like a feeling ( my sack was removed) in beginning i have feel it like the nut is too close without liquid how is normal...

I visit the surgeon and they says its normal to be sensitive and a bit bigger and different from before, now 6 months after surgery the size is bigger like 2 times , i mean the nut inside is bigger.. now is normal like the other one when i touch it , is pretty much like my good one 😃 The most important is my wife is pregnant so there is no affect on my productivity...

My advice is don't be afraid boys, just be sure your surgeon is good one and have do that for many times.. thats my opinion:)

    Greetings Georgi

I had surgery 6 days ago and I'm black, blue and swollen everywhere. Got lots of pain, hard to stand more than a minute so in bed most the time. Tried Oxycodone and Tramadol but makes me feel sick. I'm a bit worried and did not expect this surgery to be so horrible.

Hey pf7 I just had the surgery on 09/03/2020 and here it is 10/12/20, I have been using ice wearing a jock strap and the swelling has went down a little bit from what it was and the stitching is practically almost faded but I was wondering the same thing. I will be seeing my doctor in a few day and I will also let you know.

I am 45+. I actually didn't notice I have hydrocele until about 4 weeks ago when I visited hospital on my own requesting for wider test. I had earlier read it online that it is good for someone to check himself/herself once in a while . Though hydrocele was not part of the recommended tests to me but the Dr discovered abnormalities in the size of my left testicle when he was trying to scan me for prostate.

I told my wife and but couldn't make anything about it. I have to inform two of my cousins ( male nurse and Sociologist) who were agemate to open theirs and compare with mine. It was revealed mine was bigger than theirs. I later thought of how some of female secret admirer colleagues in workplace used to joke me that any lady I handle will regret because my thing is bigger and I will be surprised how they got to know the size of my private part.

After confirmation from my cousins, I rushed to hospital with my wife and the Doctor asked me to do ultrasound which confirmed that I have hydrocele.

I moved to my station where I work almost 209km from my family ( I am a fortnight husband) and a particular hospital that have my health records to do a second opinion test. Same result but the fluid was also collected and tested with no trace of infection.

I was asked to see Urologist who later scheduled operation for me.

I did the hydroceletomy on 14th October 2020 on the affected left scrotum . The surgery was successful with no pain and my eyes were opened chatting with the team. 45cl of fluid and hydrocele sac removed and shown to me. Only my left scrotum was given anesthesitic. It took less than one hour. I was told to go home that but decided to take one night rest at hospital because I have not done any operation before and my family is not with me.

Post surgery looks of the left operated is scary. It is now harder than before it was operated and have egg shape. Though, it didn't drop down like pr-operated one.

I visited the Doctor 3 days after the operation for redress. The Doctor confirmed it was healing nice and the stitches tread will dissolve by it self and asked me to remove the dress after 3days .I did and visited the hospital to see the Doctor about the new shape and he told me it will soon change. Almost 17days now!!! Pls what is wrong with my

    Update on my hydrocelectomy:

Had procedure on 5/28/20, it's now 11/14, almost 6 months after, and I still have swelling, back and forth. It seems like it comes and goes throughout the day and, it especially flares up just before I have a BM. Strangest thing. No pain or anything. It seems like it swells up to near its original size before the op, and then it loosens up, and does this back/forth.

I had an ultrasound a couple weeks ago and was told it was nothing, and that it's just scar tissue swelling so I don't know.

Anyone else have swelling past 6 months?

Hey, i am 6 months post surgery and am going through alot of the same things you are. I lived with a hydrocele for years, so i am used to the flaring. I am happy i went through with the surgery, but i am not healing as fast as i would like to be. My flaring is the worst in the mornings, best at night. I also noticed that it loosens up in warmer temperatures. Since you are a little further along in the healing process, does this get any better? I appreciate any insight thanks

    Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Epididymal Cysts 12 years ago.

Had further scan last year and they said they had doubled in size (3cm, 3cm & 5cm), they also said there was a Hydrocele.

It was all giving me discomfort and was hurting at work.

Operation last week to remove everything and when I came around the surgeon told me that he could NOT FIND ANY CYSTS, he said he had removed 140ml of fluid from the Hydrocele.

8 days later and my testicle is the size of a large orange, still bruised and very tender. I have a 2" wound which has been stitched well.

Scan reading this page has filled me with trepidation as I'm supposed to be back at work next week.

    Thanks for reading

      Hey man,

was wondering if you can help.

      Would you recommend the operation.

seems like having read all these posts, it takes along time to recover and isnt that great and doesn't completely solve things. some people looks like they've had to have multiple operations.

At present i'm not that bad. Im not in pain and its just a bit uncomfortable when working out and stuff.

I don't want a crap year going back and forth to the hospital and being in pain and not doing the things i like to enjoy. Especially in the summer.

Should I have the operation or not? perhaps wait until its really bad? Does it really solve the problem. Is it worth it?

      I'd appreciate your views.!
