Swelling after hydrocelectomy

Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience I have had following a hydrocelectomy.  I am now 10 weeks post op and still have some swelling (egg size) I saw my doc about 5 weeks after surgery and he didnt seem concerned and doesnt want to see me again till December. I have read it can take 3-6 months for all swelling to subside but I was just curiouse if anyone has had the same problem as me as I am still kind of nervous.

Hi, i also had a hydrocelectomy about a month now, according to what i saw and what i heard from ppl who had the same propblem as me, some even had surgery about 35 years ago, thet still say the scrotum remains slightly swollen, it will reduce but it will not get back to its normal size at it was naturally, it will time longtime to reduce, it also depends on people's bodies, it will get smaller and will need to look closer to notice the swelling, any surgery in our body twist something, you will never gonna fell the same, eventhough you are healed but something is twisted in your body it does not matter how much you spent to get it done by a surgeon, operation is operation, it's a shock in human body. Talkijg about hydrocele, i still feel like something is big inside my scrotum, eventhough im healed and it looks much different than when there was hydrocele inside, but i still feel strange. It s a sad situation how much men get affected with this hydrocele.

I actually just saw a new urologist friday to due to prostatitis and i had him take a look at it. He said there is tons of scar tissue and that he isnt sure why the other doc would have done 3 procedures. I also now have varicose veins in the scrotum from the 3 procedures. I am having another ultra sound in a few weeks as there is a pocket of fluid on the side of the testicle that may need to be drained via needle as the doc does not want to cut me open again as it will cause even more scar tissue. Im pretty p****d at this point as my testicle is even bigger than before my 3rd surgery.

Yea i heard some ppl said pocket of fluid develop sometime after surgery, so it's not an exact science like maths where 1+1=2, with this situation sometime depends on ppl, some gets healed quickly, some take long.

I appreciate everyone's experiences with hydrocele surgery.  I am 70 and have had one for a year now.  I believe I will just continue to have it drained every 3 months or so.  Draining hasn't been a problem and not sure I could handle the mental effects of a failed surgery as I am still very active as a hiker and mountain climber as well as still sexually active.

I am 4 days into the post op and the testicle has come back to its original size and I don't know how to feel. Also, I was wondering if any of you guys could give me a tip for a speedy recovery!

Do you mean size before surgery? Because it will swell A LOT for the first week or so, I just iced it a lot and tried to stay off my feet for the first week.

I've read all the comments on this post first of all I I want to ask how are you doing now bro? I hope the swelling has subsided a little

I've had my hydroelectomy surgery done a week ago first few days went quite well although I've had real bit of uncomfort because I had a very itchy eczema on my scrotum and due to the jockstrap it irritated my scrotum and it is literally really dry flaky skin and cut up at a few places.

Now in order to soothe the itching I have scratched it a little bit. I have also been using E45 to try and calm the irritation but it is so difficult

I've been to my surgeon yesterday as Mira right testicle was swollen and my GP said it could be a haematoma my surgeon ruled it out saying if the pain increases then let me know otherwise I will see you in four weeks

So the pain has increased more but it's not actually on my testicle it's above near my abdomen and also radiates towards my right knee I have no idea what is going on I'm walking like a penguin I have 3rd year of university starting in 6 days and I cannot believe what I have done I should have not even attempted surgery after reading your comments it feels like something is definitely going to go wrong I cannot afford to lose time or health for that matter

Also looking to get married and I think I'm going to delay that as I do not want to drag another person with me on this sh**y journey off n u t problems.

As you I also have g e r d and it is on increase as I have been a little immobile.

Hope you get better soon if anyone has any advice for me should I go to to my surgeon again and tell him of the increased pain

why am I feeling pain and abdomen and right knee and thigh.

Unfortunately my testicle has not gone down in size its still about the size of a large egg and its been almost 11 months since my 3rd(and final) surgery. My new urologist said he would NOT have done the 3rd surgery as each time you do the surgery scar tissue forms and now I have A LOT of scar tissue. Only being 1 week out i wouldnt worry about swelling it will be quite a few weeks before a lot of the swelling goes down mine was huge for a good 3 or 4 weeks. Your pain may be nerve related maybe the weight of the testicle is tugging something which is giving you the abdominal/leg pain. I iced my scrotum a lot during the first 2 weeks and did very little as far as physical activity (I pretty much laid in bed). I hope things work out for you like I said I wouldn't worry about size at this point give it a few more weeks, if you have any questions feel free to ask away.

My father had this procedure done in December 2017.  It was horrific from day 1 - after we'd been told this is a 'routine surgery' and NO cause for concerns when his scrotum swelled up to the size of a LARGE softball - and would not subside.  The drain tube was removed 4 days post-op - however the swelling got worse and worse and worse.  Long story short - my father was back and forth for the next 4 weeks - the doctor RE-inserted the drain tube - still to no avail on the swelling.  Then hard lumps started forming and his penis began swelling as well.  Went back to dr and dr did emergency surgery the following day (1/3/18).  My father had to have his right testicle REMOVED, and has about a 4 inch incision across his scrotum closed with staples.  Also, they did about a 5 inch incision at his belt/belly line and that is also closed with staples.  He is in the hospital on mega strong antibiotics and is in miserable pain and on morphine.  This is so wrong.  I am thinking heavily about a lawsuit.  This has just been such a complete disaster and I feel so sorry for him.  (He is 70 years old ..) ....

I'm 5 days post op now and I'm a bit worried as some fluid and blood keeps recurring from the incision. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm worried about a possible infection.

Yikes! I need to have this surgery done.  My lefty is about the size of an egg now and hanging low. Very uncomfortable and heavy.  Doc recommends against surgery because it inst the size of a soft ball, but is more than happy to do it for me.  When I read things like this I get nervous.  I need to get this taken care of.  Im 36 and single and am becoming very apprehensive about dating recently, and im lacking adequate physical activity.  I cannot live like this, but I don't want to make things worse by getting surgery.  And on yet another hand I feel like it's just going to get worse anyways.  If I was 50 years old and married I probably wouldn't care as much.

Mine was abouy the size of an egg when i had my fisrt surgery. After 3 surgeries it's still the same size apparently it doesnt always go back to normal after surgery due to scar tissue. I was 37 and recently divorced which is why I had it done like you I was very self conscious about it plus I had my right one removed when I was 13 which only added to my issues. I had a fake one put in which looks ok but feels completely different. There are more people that I have spoke to who had no issues from the surgery and it returned to normal than those who had issues such as myself so I would opt for the surgery because chances are it will just increase in size over time.

Thanks a lot bro! I appreciate your feedback, especially as I don't really have anyone to talk to about this issue.  Hydroceles are extra weird.  I wish you the best with everything and am sorry you are going through this.  Best of luck and success with everything..................except for your Patriots.  My Eagles shall crush them.lol.

I had never even heard of a hydrocele until I got one when I was 37 years old. Mine came on quick too it went from normal to egg size in like a month. It's a strange feeling too, mine felt like flyid was going in and out of it all the time. I've run the gambit as far as the surgery is concerned(I had 3 of them) so if you have any questions ask as many as you need and I'll try to answer them, good luck with everything....except the SB of course I hope the Eagles by 3 T'D's lol.
