Swollen tonsils after oral?

Posted , 11 users are following.

27 year old female. Had a sexual encounter with a guy of unknown status. No actual sex, only performed oral sex without swallowing or coming in contact with any semen. 2 days later I woke up with a sore throat. Gonorrhea, mono, strep and chlamydia swabs all came back clean. Freaking out that I could possibly have HIV. No other symptoms other than persistent swollen tonsils. Anyone deal with this?

No way it's HIV, it's only in theory this can happen, if you were bleeding all over ur mouth then theoretically it can be transmitted. Don't worry about it.

Hi, long shot here, but you are one of the only people on the internet I've seen post something with my exact same issue--no answers from even a couple ENT doctors I saw. I've have inflamed tonsils for almost a year now, ever since performing oral sex in May last year. If you could take any time out of your day to give an update as to where you are with your tonsils, or what the solution was for you, etc that would be SO appreciated. I am so stuck at this point lol.

    Thanks.

Hello! Although they mean well, the answers weren't really thought about critically. You are correct! It can and does cause tonsillitis. I too give handsome dudes oral sex and I too get tonsillitis. If i have more than one partner to often, or if i really spend a good amount of time with him in the far back of my throat, I get tonsillitis OFTEN. Amoxicillian 500mg, twice a day for 10 days, works for me . In fact, i take the meds for 2-3 days and body does the rest, and i save the other meds for a later date. Works every time.

its better you go and do STD tests to clear the air, but i dont think HIV will show symptoms after 2 days of sex
