Tailors bunion surgery

I have just had tailors bunion surgery on right foot. I had Big toe bunionectomy and hammer toe surgery done 4 years ago. Am I looking at the same recovery time ? I had it done on Friday the 31st and today had to attend hospital (on another matter) which involved a bit of walking (with crutches and special shoe). Predictably my foot is hurting quite a bit despite my having taken the prescribed dyhidrocodeine . Of course I am keeping the said foot up and keeping further movement to a minimum. Has anyone had experience of Tailors bunion surgery and can give me any tips on what to expect and how to manage things please?

I had surgery on 2 Tailors Bunions 9 weeks ago, together with surgery on one bunion. I was told that the Tailors Bunions were to be cared for in the same way as the bunion, i.e. no weight-bearing for 6 weeks. I did find that the bunion was more painful than the Tailors Bunions and at this point the big toe is hampering normal walking and requires physio, while the little toes have less of an effect on my walking.

I hope you have a good recovery.

Thank you helen. So you had tailors bunion surgery on both feet. Was the swelling on the one that didnt have the big toe bunion surgery as bad or the same?

There was definitely less swelling on the foot which had only the tailors bunion surgery. Having said that, I now (9 weeks post op) have swelling behind my middle toes on that foot. I am assuming its because I am now walking more and using my foot again.

Reading your post again, I'm realising that you are only 3 days after surgery. At that point I was up only to go to the bathroom, so I can imagine you must be feeling sore after walking round a hospital. I think I would be looking for ice, elevation and pain killers.

Thanks helen you are right I over did it today. Going to get an early night and try and rest it., I also got some bad news today at the hospital about possible lung cancer so need to do some processing. Thanks for your feedback.

Oh you've had a difficult time. I hope the news about your health turns out to be more positive than has been suggested as a possibility. And I hope your foot feels better after a night's rest.
