Taking Sertraline 100mg

Hi, I was taking Sertaline originally at a 50mg dosage which was quite quicly increased to 100mg. After a few months I started to feel like myself again so stupidly stopped taking them. I always feel anxious about going to the drs and although I have felt myself change back to my old ways haven't taken the tablets for months now. Would it be safe for me to just start taking the 100mg tablets I have left from last time or should I go back to the drs and be eased onto them? I would really appreciate your advise

I have 2 very young children and decided for them that something had to change. I took a huge step and went to the drs to let them know i wasn't coping. I've tried lots of different approaches therapy, hypnotherapy, change in diet/ lifestyle, natural remedies and nothing works (not even slightly). Trying to get through a therapy session without having a meltdown just caused more stress and anxiety.
Starting these tablets was the best thing I ever did. I had my life back, slept and had all the energy in the world to play with my children. Sadly I prematurely stopped taking them altogether and seem to be paying for it now. I am back to taking the tablets at a lower dosage, after drs advice, and hope to be well again soon.
Thank you for all your advice. Sending love and respect to anyone on here going through the same, similar or worse symptoms 💕💕💕

I am so glad you decided to take the bull by the horns and see your doctor.
The journey to wellness is often a long one but you have taken the first step, good on you!
All the best, and remember, you are never on your own.

At some point we have to take it so we can carry on with our responsibilities in life especially when you have kids that needs all your effort and so on .
Me too I started with 50 and been 2 weeks now on 100 . I feel much better but still have the worry about not able to sleep at night and I think is bout it all day but not intensively as before . I've been on this med since November 2015 . The doc told me we will end this journey slowly through a year ( I hope so ).
Takecare and keep your chin up . Hope we all feel ourselves one day .

I've upped my dose of Sertraline from 50mg to 100mg 4 days ago. My doctor increased it because I started feeling really panicky and ill again to go out. I'm pretty sure I am having side effects upping the dose. I feel tingly burning sensation in head and body and generally really nervous feeling . Will this get better ?

Have been on on it for two years and I'm now tapering off it, very slowly as coming off can cause worse symptoms than going on and lasting damage if you reduce too fast. I've been on a 10% reduction for the last 4 months and hope to be off it altogether by the spring. Please be aware that the higher the dose the longer it takes coming off.
irs a slow acting drug so relapses can be unexpected,
wishing you well xx

As I said earlier to increase your dose after only a few weeks isn't helpful as they can take up to 12 weeks to kick in and you often feel worse before you get better. They need this time to become affective so upping the dose can just make it harder for your body to adjust so increases the side effects !
give them time and consider CBT alongside then you may be able to come off them sooner,
xx

But today I feel nervous , panicky and shaky too , it's not as bad as it used to be before I started the med but I want to be my self again and I was feeling like I'm approaching to that
I will give it more time as I don't want to up my dose again . 😔

Thats not everyone though but to limit the damage its best to take them only to get you through a difficult time. You only need to look at the side effects listed in the advice slip, there are some serious ones like cancer.
as if we are not anxious enough!!! so if you can restrict the dose and length of time you are taking them then that must be a good thing,
all the best, I hope things improve for you soon x
