    Hi Stephen

You've got an interesting take on this one. I've been drinking heavily for 40yrs.stopped 3 months ago with lots of help from support groups etc. Took about 19 months though. I find myself deliberately going to my old drinking haunts to see my friends for a chat etc.I don't drink when I'm there and they all understand, support and encourage me even though they are all drinking. I find that I need to do this to prove to myself that I can do this. So far so good. I guess we all have our own way of dealing with the abstinence

Just wondering if you have any daily readings?

I have a few books related to recovery that i read eack day, theres 365, one for every day of the year.

I get up in the morning, make my coffee, i read the days reading in my book(s)

and I reflect on the positive things I have in my life,.it helps to start the day with a good mind set.

Theres a saying I have always referred to, i still do,

Approach the day, dont Attack it.

Stresses for me were the go getter , anytime i would get immediately frustrated or p*ssed off at someone or something, I would ALWAYS mix myself a drink or rush to the liquor store. And as soon as I had the drink in me, I was FINE!

but lets be honest, thats just bullsh*t right...how can some poison in a bottle make me fine....the issue is still there . such a sad way to deal with my issues, whether big or small. I am an alcoholic for 24 years.. I self medicated for many many years...but being a smart young woman that I am, I knew what i was doing, and I was getting sicker and sicker.

That being said, You made such a courageous conscious decision to stop drinking!! some days are easy , and you wont even think about it, then some days will be more of a struggle right. so on your tougher days, you can remind yourself how easy it was for you to get through your day before, that it is possible,....anything is possible.!

All the best to you !!!!
