Hi, I'd like to ask those who have one of these two lesnes. Are you experiencing and night-time visual issue, e.g. Positive Dysphotopsia or you are fine? I'm just curious if there are any guy without issues like mine...

Not asking about Symphony etc.

I have Eyhance in one eye. Second eye isn't done yet. Zero glare or halos at night or any other time. I do have a streak at 10 to 4 on the clock with streetlights at night but I think that's just astigmatism. And it's not at all bothersome.

    .

I also have a slight ghost / diplopia with computer, ipad, iphone (lit up screens at close distance). No diplopia beyond 24". Again I think this is a combination of astigmatism and defocus at that distance. I have glasses now with -75D cylinder and zero sphere in the operated eye and when I put those on AND a +1 reader as well (2 pair of glasses at once just an a experiment LOL) computer looks absolutely stunning, sharp and zero ghosting / diplopia. I have also experimented with a -.75 cyl soft contact daily wear. With that in the defocus at near is more of a normal defocus as opposed to a diplopia. So again think this is just Astigmatism + defocus rather than anything to do with Eyhance.

    .

Anyway the short answer is no, night vision is great. Just that diplopia issue with screens at near and intermediate but I don't think that's the lens. And the lens isn't even really supposed to work below 70cm anyway so I guess I can't complain.

      hi david

with the +1 reader how is your cell phone vision? video quality on cell phone? what readers do you need to see great video quality on the eyhance eye?

    • Edited

Again it depends on the lighting and I have only really experimented with my specific use cases. I can read J1 in full bright sunlight without readers but that's not very reflective of day to day reality. I can use the computer (18-20" distance w/ 34" ultrawide monitor) without anything BUT it is noticeably sharper (and no ghosting) with a +1 reader. The only other common scenario for me is reading my iPad (about 10" distance) in bed in a totally dark room with the screen dimmed by about 90%. In that scenario a +2 or stronger reader makes for good text but bear in mind I still have a near-sighted un-operated eye so I don't NEED the readers and often go without. But the readers make a huge difference. I do sometimes watch video on my iPad in moderate to normal room lighting and again it depends on the light but the video will always look sharper with a +1 or better reader. My distance prescription in the Eyhance eye is 0 sphere -0.75 cylinder. Also I am middle aged (to sort of answer the other poster) 😃

Hi. Did you target the eye done with Eyhance at plano, or did you do a modification? Thanks.

    • Edited

-0.21 target. It was plano in the fall. Now (9 months later) its shifted slightly plus. Oh well. Also my replies above are very old! Update… 5 months after surgery I developed starbursts. They are like a hundred razor thin lines that fan out along the top of lights at night. I don't think it's the lens really as there were zero starbursts for the first 5 months (just the maddox rods which are a very different thing). I've been told that the starbursts are from PCO. And the 2 streaks (maddox rods) at 9&3 and 10&4 are from two small winkles in the bag. Both might be resolved with YAG.

I had Tecnis 1 piece set for intermediate vision in both eyes. I have no visual issues. I do see some streaks from oncoming headlights at night but it is not bothersome and may be due to my astigmatism, which my spectacle prescription would correct. However, I see well enough now so I have not filled it.

Both eyes now have toric Eyehance lens targeting -.25. RE was done 3 weeks ago, LE was done 1 week ago. I'm 56.

I would say that even at this early stage, dysphotopsia is like trouble. if you're looking for it, you'll find it. If not, it likely won't bother you.

I've spent about five hours driving in the dark during the past week since getting my second eye done. As I've started to notice in other threads, my experience has been similar to David's. Headlights and traffic lights really don't seem any different to me than they were when driving at night with uncorrected vision both before and after cataracts. Contrast sensitivity and depth perception have been fantastic. Overall, my night vision is FAR better than it ever was before I got the lenses.

I do see the streaks David mentioned. For me, they are single, thin lines. With traffic lights and street lamps, the lines are "coming towards me" at an angle. With headlights and taillights, they are straight up and down. They are very faint and fall into the "Oh that's kind of interesting." category as opposed to being any sort of annoyance or distraction.

Wow. No, my experience with the Eyehance lenses are nothing like that, and I'm driving in the dark, with traffic, traffic lights, and street lamps the entire way, four hours a week.

My night vision is pretty close to the unedited version of that picture.

I don't want to oversimplify, but have you tried using artificial tears at all?

I'm an experienced "soldier". It's not lack of tear film, believe me. It's the edge of the lense which you have as well, but I'm younger and my pupil gets bigger than yours. I'm sure you gonna see the same thing when your go to your doctor for eye test (dillating drops).

i know what you mean Adam. the ferris wheel, i absolutely hate it. mine are much larger than your drawing. i had installed lights in my car to prevent the pupil from dilating.

yes to an extent but not very effective. i had to look at the lights to constrict the pupil on some occasions. tecnis doesnt work for me. alcon design generates minimal PD for my eye anatomy.
