Ted stockings

Hi

can I ask how long all you hippies: I  have had to wear ted stockings.

I have been told 6 weeks. I am now into week 5 and they are driving me nuts. The pain sometimes thro them being tight is bad at times. I ended cutting a pair off the other night as I had had enough. X

    Hi Gaynor

I was told 30 days they were rather uncompterful for a while it may be that you were given the wrong size as the first pair they fiited in hospital were to tight so they gave a bigger pair, I  would say if you have done 6 weeks leave them off. also had to inject myself for 30 days to with an antibiatoc,

    Good luck  Ron

      Thanks Ron

Strangely enough I found a a pair in a packet I had for a previous op and they were a different size..

Think it is time to take them off

       Many thanks

      hiya gaynor,

yes, good fun but a serious worry about our different treatments, very.

exeter hospital also say YES to swimming any stroke inc  breast stroke as well as 'no' to TEDS, so thats yet another debate I imagine....

      Have alovely day

    Hi Gaynor,

Oh Bless you!  I know how you feel.  Please take your Teds off right now!

i am sure you are moving around and walking and just don,t need them. Teds were invented to prevent post op patients from developing DVT.  I can remember when they were first used (I,m an "old" Nurse!) and they were great and saved many lives.  Remember, in those far off days, patients stayed in hospital for ages and were not very mobile.  They also made the ward untidy and were encouraged to rest in bed!

I must admit, when I had my THR a couple of months ago, I just said I was allergic to them.  Not really a lie because I have Lupus which affects my skin and my legs are inflamed most of the time.  As soon as my epidural wore off I was up and walking and exercising my legs and feet and I had no problem.

I think it's sad that patients are frightened by these things. Everyone is different, some tolerate Teds very well and others go through hell.

I hope you feel better with the fresh air and sunshine around your legs!

    lots of hugs

    Sue xxx

Oh Sue, so lovely to read your message.

have to say making the ward untidy made me laugh, but can understand that one at the same time.

theybare going today I truly can not cope anymore with them. , just under my knee at times I get a deep red mark which is very painful, silly as it may seem.

      many thanks for replying

      have a good day

      love and hugs
