Telly prog . has a patient with PMR

Doc Martin a TV pro on ITV has a patient with PMR and GCA . I can only think the production team has a person suffering with it .

I feel as though perhaps the illness is starting to get the recognition we all deserve . Hooray

Is this not a repeat from a few years back or is it new?

2 series back doc Martin diagnosed pmr to a waiter that was having trouble carrying a tray, now this story line, yes I think there's someone within the team suffering as we do. Only difference is he (doc Martin) diagnosed the condition almost immediately while I went undiagnosed for 4 months and was practically a cripple until a rheumatologist diagnosed me within 5 minutes. You know what they say, things are always better in the movies!! Regards, tina

Yes it is a new series . I had been complaining for years of neck , face pain . If only I had seen Doc Martin . Infact I think I have come a cross some characters like him .

Yes it will be interesting how the story pans out .

Let's hope it has a happy ending otherwise we are all scuppered .🙀

Exactly what happened to me with my own lovely doctor - couldn't comb my hair and top of arms ached.  There are some GP's out there that understand.

Off topic - if Dr Martin is back on screen it's enough for me to go into the expense of buying an aerial so that I can again see English television (I live in Germany).

Of course it will have a happy ending - it's Doc Martin treating him/her!😄😄

Anyway NONE of us is scuppered.

If you have internet try googling filmon - UK terrestial TV free. We use it a lot after being told about it last summer by another camper. If you want a bigger picture you can feed it through your TV if it has the right connections.

Have just downloaded Filmon.  Great.  Many thanks for the tip.  You did tell me about it before, but I forgot about it.

Hello Carol!! I was quite chuffed to hear our condition being brought into A TV program. I had to rewind it to listen to it again, I couldn't believe how accurate it was! well done BBC.

      BBC, no ITV.

Two series ago he diagnosed a waiter just becuase the waiter had difficulty in holding a tray.  So did they do a proper diagnosis this time?

      Sort of!

Stuff neck and shoulders. But she could still raise her arms! Then jaw ache, so a biopsy was performed in surgery, and result received within hours ( second bit reasonable I suppose as it was GCA), and I guess as he is supposed to be a surgeon in previous life he could perform biopsy.

But, at least it's been brought to the public's attention, and it was emphasised about sight loss which is good.

Well , I expect he has only 6 to ten weeks to improve somewhat her condition . I expect she will be cured by the end of the series this year .

At least my husband now realises the condition truly exists not just in my head .

i had only the stiff neck and shoulders hurt like hell, and also the hips stopped working, could raise my arms, but surley everybody is different in the sense that the symptoms are not the same.

At the moment nobody seems to know what is wrong with me, but my doctor has been treating me for pmr, and when i went to see the rhemy she seems to think its something else so i am slowly reducing my pred, so hopefull somebody will let me know what is wrong.

But the outcome of the programme is to make people aware of the illness and that cannot be a bad thing as PMR needs to be reconised.biggrin
