How interesting ! I had TKR last year to right knee and have suddenly developed fallen arch to left foot- i have a lot of pain suddenly to right ankle which comes and goes , feels like i can barely walk/ weight bear on it at times. I'm nearly 70 and do have osteoarthritis .

I'm 72....YOU ARE NOT OLD!!! The most typical reason someone's gait is off: misaligned hips / locked SI joints. Go see a chiropractor. If things (hips, SIs, pelvis, lower back, etc.) are out of whack, then chiropractic is the simplest, non-invasive way to correct the problem. Can't help with the arthritis but can certainly get you your normal gait back.

A TKR can wreak havoc on other parts of the body since we subconsciously change our gait to avoid pain...

    Other Pain After a TKR

All very typical and correctable. Depending on where the arthritis is, there are injectables to help with that pain. For the knee, there's cortisone and hyaluronic acid...not sure what to do for the ankle...see a podiatrist. Then there's FDA-approved COOLIEF which deadens the nerves around joints for up to 2 years. Their website can help you locate a certified doc in your area.

Thank you Chico. You were on here and had great advice when I was getting my knee replacement 5 years ago. Have been to podiatrist, and am getting injectables every 3 months, the alternative is joint fusion which will limit back and forth movement to foot, and 3 months off foot, which work will not allow. So I wear my brace, and take ibuprofen ,and just hurt. I have been to chiro but ex-rays show severe arthritis so I guess I will just have to live with it. I am having the gel injection twice a year to delay left knee replacement. Thank you for saying I am not old LOL.
