Terrified I will have a heart attack?

Hi everyone. I must start by saying I have bad GAD and bad health anxiety to the point where I worry about my health and about dying from health issues every day. Lately my new area of focus to worry about is my heart. I am terrified that I will have a heart attack and die. I was out with my friends a few nights ago and had all the symptoms of a heart attack; chest pain, dizziness, pain and numbing in left arm, back pain and tingling, etc. I thought I was having a heart attack for sure. It eventually went away but I’ve had a few more spells since. I am a 20 year old female and the only heart conditions in my family have been my grandpa who had a heart attack when he was 70 and survived and my brother who had Wolfe-Parkinson’s White syndrome but is now cured. How likely is it that I will have a heart attack? I had an EKG about a year ago that came out normal. Should I order more tests to put my mind at ease? Thank you

Have you ever been to an electrophysiologist? WPW syndrome is hereditary so maybe go to one to put our mind at ease and to be 100% sure. How was your brother diagnosed/ did he have symptoms?

He did have symptoms somewhat similar to mine such as dizziness but never any chest pain. I got my EKG because they wanted to make sure I didn’t have WPW and they gave me the all clear. Is it worth it to go to a specialist about it still?

Are you on the contraceptive pill?

Are you on any medications? Or have you taken anything that could affect your heart?

The only medications I take are Zoloft and Allegra for allergies. I don’t know of anything that would affect my heart

Do you ever get electric shock type feelings in your chest? Or any issues with your breathing for example trouble taking in a deep breath or getting out of breath?

Kind of it feels just like a tingling sensation in my chest and radiates to my back. No issues with breathing that I’ve noticed

Is there anything that makes your symptoms better or worse?

Well if you have been having symptoms in the last 4 months and you haven’t had any tests since you have had the problem, it might be a good idea to get some tests done. Keep a diary of your symptoms and what you are doing when you get them (even if it is just sitting watching tv). Sometimes your time of month can affect your heart, so keep a note of when that is as well. I found I got palpitations when it was just before my period and when I was ovulating, I only noticed this because I had a period diary app which I got because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome.

it turned out my palpitations and chest pains were down to multiple pulmonary emboli, I got it from being on the contraceptive pill.

I think it is important to take your health seriously when it comes to chest pain, considering that is where your heart and lungs are, but try not to scare yourself, just get some tests done otherwise you will drive yourself crazy wondering what it could be. Also don’t smoke or drink alcohol if you are really worried, they are 2 of the biggest causes of chest problems.
