Tested negative for H.Pylori was still given the prev pack antibiotic treatment

I've been out of work because on the pain I'm feeling in my upper abdomen. It hurts to even take deep breaths because the expansion of my stomach feels so tight it's gonna tear. I can barely stand or walk without being hunched over.

I went to the Dr, told him my symptoms. He pressed my stomach did a blood test (finger poke) came back and said I was negative but had symptoms of H.Pylori. He prescribed the antibiotics which I couldn't take one of them (metronidazole-flagyl) because those gave me horrible panic attacks followed by light felt seizures. So I took the other 2 Amoxicillin and Cimetidine. I'm more than positive it was Amoxicillin that made my arms tingly and numb so I went to the pharmacist and told him my symptoms and he said that shouldn't happen and to stop taking them right away.

I'm now in a lot of pain and just don't know what to do. The ER won't do anything because I've already been there. Also, I have no insurance.

Is there any natural cures out there? Should I even be on this treatment even if I was tested negative but with symptoms? I need help

P.S I've done so much research and most people who take the treatment said it was back within months.

Please anything will help.

Thank you!

Run from that doctor as fast as you can. Mine did some thing similar and I'm still dealing with the effects of the antibiotics on my stomach 2 months later with no end in sight. If I could go back in time I would never have done the antibiotics.

Thanks for that. I was thinking of going back tomorrow to change my meds but I think about it and say "what if I don't have that?"

I'm running out of options right now. My best bet is to go to the ER but I don't think they do much there. I was there in July and they only prescribed Prilosec but I'm back to the same only worst now.

Yea, I haven't had much luck with hospitals. Did 5 er visits and had a bunch of tests done which were negative. The one test I need, endoscopy, they won't do until October. In their minds since it's not life threatening its not important, even though we're living with chronic pain everyday. I would love to have my GI experience this for one week, see how they feel.

      Right?

It's exhausting and excruciating. I haven't had a good night sleep in months. I'm thinking of going to the ER now but I feel like I'm gonna be wasting my time. But it does hurt though

I hear that. If you do go let me know how it went. Hopefully you have better luck then I did.

Are you still going through it? Or did you get better?

Still in the middle of it. All I can do is take my meds and adjust my diet. Thankfully my family has been really supportive. If you ever need talk I'll be around. I find it helpful to discuss things with people who are experiencing it too, easier to vent. :p

Thank you. It's hard to explain it to my parents. They tend to worry a lot which that makes me worry and so I suffer from panic attacks so it's not good to worry.

So you have been diagnosed for H.Pylori? How were you diagnosed? What meds are you on?

I did the triple therapy for h pylori (amoxicillin, lanaprazole and something else that I forget). Did it for 14 days, waited the four weeks to retest to see if it worked and had a negative breath test. My abdominal pain though while I was on the antibiotics went from being intermittent every few weeks to constant everyday.

I'm currently back on pantaprazole and am taking Amitriptyline as well for the pain. Just trying to take it one day at a time, although some days it's harder than others to remain positive. A lot of the time I wonder if I'm ever going to be "normal" again.

Wow! So that medication killed the bacteria but left you with pain? Makes no sense. Only makes me mad at the pharmaceutical companies only caring about making money.

What was your experience for the 14 days like? Just to keep in mind and tell myself not to panic IF I'm put on them too.

The fourteen days weren't great. Had a few days where I was nauseaus and bloated, with a lot of stomach cramping. The downside with antibiotics is that it kills all bacteria, good or bad, in your GI tract. I'm currently taking probiotics as well to try and balance things out again.

For my case, the doctors seem to think either the antibiotics inflamed my stomach lining and gave me gastritis, or there's a heightened nerve sensitivity going on from it. Only way to know for sure is to do a scope, which is ages away. In the meantime I'm a walking (or in most cases lying down) pharmacy.

Oh no! That sounds terrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that. And why are they taking so long to do the scope? He should've sent you to a specialist asap!

I feel ya, I'm not on any meds but all I've been doing this whole week is called off work and lay in bed (well sit because of the acid)

Well I hope everything works out for you. Let me know how you feel. Or if you need support too I'm here smile

Thanks, Canada's medical care system needs a lot of work. Still having ok moments and bad ones. Would love to start having pain free days again.

    Hi Monica,

I am not doctor but yes I took antibiotics for some reason and after one year still facing side effects of it. If you are tested negative for h pylori. I would suggest go for endoscopy but don't take medicines without diagnosis.

Below are the methods I am trying, u try and see if it make u feel better -

Eat home cooked food, eat as much as veggies as u can.

Drink half or one bottle luke warm water in morning.

Eat bananas 2 or 3 in a day.

Try to maintain a routine for eating.

I take soup of ginger, garlic and cabbage once. Not soup I just boil them together. I read somewhere that raw juice of cabbage helps heal ulcer or stomach prob but I am in India and they use lot of pesticides so I boil and take.

Please don't take antibiotics unless u are diagnosed. I have been through a lot because doctor thought i had some infection which is not going away and not showing in report. He kept on giving me antibiotics for 1.5 months.

I have been doing research on the horrible side effects of antibiotics and the damaged they cause afterwards, it's sad.

I agree with you on testing negative for h.pylori. I should've realized when he said it was negative but had the symptoms oh and also the clinic kept pushing me to buy the meds from them for $145 because they said anywhere else would be $800. I went to a pharmacist and they only charged me $45 for the treatment. Anyway, I stopped taking it because of the tingling and numbness. I was going crazy doing research until I thought of a friend I haven't talked to in a while, she's an RN. I asked her questions and told her my symptoms. She said it's either gastritis or an ulcer and recommended me what to eat.

I feel like I have a good diet. I juice every other day (carrots, coconut oil, spinach, kale, cabbage) I quit smoking, I don't drink, I only use olive oil, almond milk. I have a pretty good diet.

      Are you still on meds?

Did you try the remedies you recommended? Did they help?

I was given only rabium. I did feel good after taking. Gave me for 15 days.

My current doctor was good and understanding.

He didn't suggest me test or medicines. Told me change my diet and stay away from doctors where i currently reside because they were suggesting biopsy and all.

Thank you. I will follow up a healthier diet.

Will I ever be able to eat pizza and drink coffee? I miss them so much sad
