welcome, Valerie, so glad you found this board... as we all were when first looking up about it all.  While you are waiting for you Vulva Clinic appt, here is the link to my literature searches that have helped me ot understand how to handle this - an autoimmune disorder.   Please do NOT worry about cancer. it's only a very small percentage... and no telling what their other conditions were that led them to that outcome.  But armed with the current nutritional deficiencies corrections with supplements you will be fine. smiles.   OH! I"m 72 and only diagnosed about 7 months ago, but there are many wonderful women on here who've been balancing out this LS for years. so ask away we are here.

    Hi Valerie,

Welcome to the club no one wants to be a member of 😉 You will find a wealth of info on this forum but it can all be a bit overwhelming at first so Is just do the basics to start with while you are awaiting your appt with the vulva specialist. Steroid cream, barrier cream. Anti inflammatory diet . I'm in the Uk and have not had to pay extra for holiday insurance. All the very best x

Hi Valerie, sorry you've had to join us, but there's a wealth of information on here, and so much support. It's a horrible shock when you are first diagnosed but, a few years down the line, I just deal with it and it doesn't interfere too much with my life as long as I stick to my routines which i don't even think about any more.

I'm in the UK and I haven't had to pay extra on insurance. It's based on risk and cost of possible treatment should anything go wrong on holiday. This isn't really that type of condition. If you do have to pay extra, shop around. I've just been away on the Eurotunnel, and their own insurance covers pre-existing conditions as long as your doctor says you're ok to travel. I rang my doctor, had a chat about it so it was on file, and everything was fine. Obviously I don't know how it compares if I'd made a claim, but luckily I didn't have to.

You will learn to deal with it, and find your balance, follow the advice on here, everyone is different, so try all sorts of things and you will find what works for you./

    Good luck
