The ultimate question: pimple or STI?

A couple weeks i was diagnosed with genitals warts with one appearing on my shaft / groin. it appeared as a skin tag or cauliflower like growth. ive since used a very strong doctor prescribed acid that burned it off. My partner was diagnosed with HPV which i found out through what i went through so there is a very strong chance i have it too.

The circumstances of this new one came about recently - i had a quick shave of my shaft the morning before unprotected sex with my partner. yesterday is looked slightly more red (see first pic) today slightly more yellow. it is mildly sore like any spot anywhere else.

is this simply a ingrown hair or aggravated fordyse spot? or another sign a genital wart has appeared? or a more scary sign of HSV?
