Thigh muscle cramp

I have often had calf muscle cramp, but this is easily dealt with by walking about. However, last night I had a thigh muscle cramp which was far more acute than anything I had had before. The pain was excruciating and lasted ten minutes. My face went grey and I almost fainted. I couldn't walk and massaging seemed to have little effect.

To all those who suffer this terrible pain Which I have had for 13 years. It appears to have gone - fingers crossed. It appears to be related to hormones. It all started  with the menopause and continued with hormone therapy following non invasive breast cancer. I had so many cramps including the shin ones, that I stopped taking the prescribed drugs. Guess what? No cramps. None. No one. ( so far). I keep my fingers very firmly crossed.

Over the years I tried everything suggested in this blog. Nothing worked until now.

I hope, others will be able to find relief and go on to have a healthy and active life. Best wishes, Caroline

First time it happen I was going to call 9-1-1 glad to see I'm not alone. Doc say it might be my magnesium is low but that was way back. I haven't had an episode in over a year till tonight so back to the doctor I go! My leg hurts n I'm scared to move suddenly. The body goes thru crazy stuff 😕

Sadly welcome to what I have labeled as...TRex pain...Remember in the early Jurassic Park movies...where a extra was lifted or bitten in half by the computer graphic T Rex.

The pain we have is similar to that I'd expect. I've experienced this in many situations socially and during some inhouse recreational pursuits. Its initially funny for my partner who now as I do has a glass of carbonated water in a glass and xxx grade tabs next to it. . Over time I've done many things such as hitting the muscles to get them to fire up because I believe the electrical signals going to the brain are screwd up...recently I took no tabs but inched ...yes buy the inch went to the microwave and heated up a heat pack. I placed that on the base of my spine and then a little higher.

The nerves in the back a giving us referred pain. There'll be a result once a doctor gets this...not before.

      Gotta go. Ciao

Just had another episode tonight but this time my son was around thank God!

I keep tonic water and a heating pad near. It helped a lot. Glad he was around cause you can't even move to get anything yourself and I have stairs.

Well let me try to go back to sleep

I've been having left thigh muscle

spasms thru the roof! It hurts so bad when it happens. Feels like my friggin leg is in labor trying to give birth! Even strong muscle relaxers don't help. My hip hurts alot too and is always so sore after a horrible day of non stop spasms. Have 9 , yes 9 herniated or blown discs and I thought that might be causing nerve pinching in that area. But I was told that my very sore achy psinful hip is the culprit behind the spasms.

I also get these horrible spasms, usually in the upper right leg but have had them in both. i bought magnesium and take it every day, check with your doctor on what dosage to take. i have degenerative disc disease and it causes all sorts of pain and spasms in my legs, the magnesium does help. hope this helps some or all of you suffering like do.

Mine is similar but covers entire leg-sometimes seems like nerves more than muscle. There is no pain like it. Stretching leg straight sometimes will curb it. But other times nothing helps. I don't have it often and have no idea what causes it to happen.

just make sure you take 1 every day, if i do a lot of yardwork or get dehydrated it usually happens but if i take an extra one in the evening on those days it usually does not cramp up. glad you got some relief, it is a miserable pain.

Statin’s and diuretic caused my terrible inner thigh and outer lower leg cramps. I researched the causes and found both the above types of meds could cause my cramps. I came off the statins for 3 months and cramps gone' went back on them and the cramps came back just as severe so stopped altogether. I also take Mag Phos 8 and just below the septum of your nose is an acupuncture point, press that point as hard as you can and the cramps will soon ease. Keep well hydrated and good luck
