Thigh prickling pain only at night anyone?

Hello, I am 9 weeks post op anterior hip replacement and I have been troubled and disturbed mostly at night over the last week or so, with very prickly nerve pain almost like small electric shocks. The pain wakes me up and lasts for 10 - 15 minutes at a time. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a night too. I am wondering if anyone else has this experience. Thank you for reading!

Hi Ann! I too am experiencing that! Im 4 months out of my surgery. Sometimes even clothes bother me. Sometimes it feels like pinching even burning. I do believe it's nerves reconnecting. I was told by therapist that nerves grow back but at such a small amount and as they are doing you feel it. Can be pretty intense! Wishing you all the best and for a speedy recovery!! 🤠 LD

Thanks Linda, I hope it is just nerve repair and not a trapped nerve or something worse. I must stay more positive. Thanks for reply.Happy Recovery to you too.

    hi ann,

    checking in with you ....

I have a question about the "  small saucer size area a couple of weeks go, but now it is a much bigger area, more like dinner plate size" you mention   - where is this spot ?

anterior hip replacement doe not severed muscles, tendons etc, but seprate them, righ ? so the only cutting would be the incision ... is this where you have the mark?

maybe have it checked out, just to make sure it is nothing serious ...

please let us know how you are getting on, okay

    big warm hug

Hi, had sparky nerve pains 3-4 months all fine now. Physio said it was poor old nerves sorting themselves out. X

Thanks Kris, the sparks aren't quite so bad at night there but they still just like to remind me that they are repairing. Merry Christmas!
