Things are getting better!

So many of our group seem to be feeling down and poorly at the moment that I'm wondering if this is the right time or the wrong time to inject a bit of good news.
This time last year I'd been diagnosed for 4 months, I was on 15mgs Prednisolone and feeling awful. I'd missed Christmas completely (where did that go I asked myself). Was cancelling lunch and supper dates, gave up the gym, stopped the swimming. I felt exhausted all the time. I even had to stop going to Spanish classes because the 'treacle brain' simply wasn't functioning in English let alone in a foreign language! I just wanted to stay indoors and make it all go away.
This time this year (I know it doesn't make sense, but you know what I mean!). I'm down to 4mgs Pred, I'm entertaining again (albeit a little less fussy with the food) I've taken up walking instead of the gym (much cheaper) I'm back at Spanish and actually grasped the past tense last week. I enjoyed the company of friends on Thursday and Friday, went to see The King's Speech on Saturday and took my lovely daughter to the O2 Arena on Sunday as a very belated 40th birthday present.
I do hope this comes across as encouragement (which is what I badly needed a year ago) and not boasting. I just feel so sad when I hear how frustrated and poorly people are feeling just now and want you to know that there is light at the end of that rotten tunnel and that you will soon start to feel better. Now, do I press submit or not?
Much love to all

I know when I first got PMR 2 years ago I felt very out of control, just sat around, either \"up\" or very\"down\", felt quite useless generally
So it's so good to think that even though we might not be great at vacuuming we can do lots of other things still - which are much more interesting anyway :D :D
I find that our county council respond very quickly via their website to things like overhanging hedges - and even potholes amazingly. I do resent paying for expensive phone calls to complain though. Often as Granny Moss says actually going into a shop, bank etc works better - they don't want other customers to hear ! There have been one or two occasions though when the stress has outweighed the feel good factor, generally dealing with technology I don't quite understand
Snow is forecast here today - and the gas people are going to turn off our gas in order to replace the pipes - we'll have one warm room with a fire, but aren't we spoilt, most of us, with central heating! Love to all Green granny

Yes its nice to know we are fit for something !!
What I forgot in my tale about hedges I first complained to the Highways dept about the hedges and a broken manhole cover ( where people were driving as they couldnt get past the hedges ) !! They said no one has ever complained about The Courts or Police Station before !! I did say if it was a private hedge you would do something about it !! The manhole was done the same day hedges just left !!
Years ago a lady in a John Lewis dress department rang all round the country to get me an evening dress in a 10 as the 12 was too big !!!!!!! I wish now !! and I wrote to the Manager and took her in Chocolates as she definately went the extra mile
Best wishes

I took on Orange because my daughter changed to them and their signal was pants. My Grandson is disabled and steroid dependent so she must be in contact with him at all times. What a performance. They gave me so much hassle that in the end I sent them a letter in big (72) bold, bright red font. And all it said was [b:747d2c5c0c]\"I DON'T FEEL WELL, I'M GOING TO CRY AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT - SORT THIS OUT - NOW\"[/b:747d2c5c0c] Two days later they ended her contract, refunded all her money, let her keep her phone and sent my Grandson £50 to spend! Result  On the other end of the scale I went into Rymans for some photographic paper and a young lad (with obvious learning difficulties like my Grandson) was so delightful and helpful that I wrote a complimentary letter. They wrote back and said how thrilled they were and the next time I went in the shop he was wearing a big star saying he was employee of the the month :nahnah: I was so happy (and so was he). Maybe the 85th side effect of Prednisolone is to empower us :winkeye: Down to 3.5mgs today for the first time - whimped out of going the full monty down to 3mgs, a step too far I thought after reading all the advice on here. Keep up the good work!

Pity they can't run the country.
Re the pains in the \"wrong\" places. We all know that we can hurt absolutely anywhere at any time but the usual shoulders, neck, hips and thighs are still trotted out as being typical. We can certainly hurt in those places but feet, fingers and hands, calves, arms and groin often do, too and if I've left anywhere out I'm sure someone will fill in. My extra walking seems to be helping my groin pain and my above the ear pain has taken a hike again. Bye bye for keeps I hope.
