Think I have Blepharitis..

Started having many of the symptoms you all have experienced with Blepharitis ... thought it was just a fluke at first.. maybe was having an allergic reaction to my makeup, peeling eyelids, crusty at the corners of my eyes in the morning, as it got worse it was swelling and very red eyelids.. then I began to really worry because my son came home complaining that his eye was red and hurting. I thought maybe we were getting pink eye so off to the doctor we went. She prescribed him with antibiotic eye drops and me with ointment, she said she didn't think mine was pink eye, but she wasn't sure what it was.... I have been using the ointment and things were not getting any better.. I decided to look online and see if there was anything out here about the symptoms I was experiencing. Little did I know that there are so many that have this eye mess!! I am so glad I found this forum.. I have been doing the heat compress in the morning and evening before bed and using the antibiotic ointment, also bought some "eye wipes" at the drug store to use by recommendation of a friend who has this same condition. Today I found the Wet Ones with the Benz. Chlor. and I have cut them in strips to use for the 3 times a day... Just used my first ones tonight.. praying for a good outcome... so far doesn't feel too bad other than a little drying around my eye area... I am in the process of waiting the 10 minutes and then will go and rinse my eyes with warm water and apply either the antibiotic ointment or maybe some vitamin E oil for moisturization.  I am praying this works... I LOVE wearing eye makeup and would feel completely depressed if I can't wear it anymore because of this mess!!  Thanks to everyone who has posted their great outcomes and treatments on this forum... hopefully I will be able to say it was a lifesaver for me soon!!!

      Hello Kathy,

I don't know if they are clogged.. they certainly don't feel like they are, but my left eye has watered pretty much non stop all day today... so I guess it's a possibility the duct maybe clogged.. I am thinking that it may be time to see my eye doctor to get a better diagnosis. My eyes have been irritated all day today... feeling dryer than normal but the left eye has been watering all day... this is very frustrating to say the least!!

Well, I guess an update is in order.... I have tried almost every suggestion here. Starting with the wet ones (red package) they helped but were so strong and drying that I have stopped using them.. I bought some Systane Lid Wipes and have been using them in between washing with Trader Joes brand tea tree oil bar soap morning and evening, also have been using the antibiotic ointment I was prescribed at my doctors office, when they thought maybe I just had a random infection of some sort. I am also using A&D Ointment in between.. like if I am at work and my eyelids feel itchy, it helps to have something to put on them. I am being overly cautious to NOT touch my face or eyes at all while out if I can help it, that one is a tough one when they start feeling itchy!!  I may go back to the wet ones now that my eyelids are not so inflammed to see if just using them randomly here and there will finally clear this mess up for good.  I also have thrown away all of my old eyeshadows... boy that was like torture.. the stuff isn't cheap!!! This has truly been a horrible experience I would not wish on ANYONE!!

Thanks everyone for your helpful posts! It's unfortunate that misery loves company... or not so much that but to know that others are having the same problem and finding creative ways to thwart it!!! <3 and healing to all!! and="" healing="" to="">

    Valerie,

I enjoyed this post . I love the wet ones and do feel they have helped alot, but the last two days, my lids have been sore and almost feel burned.  I am thinking maybe I have appled the hot compresses too hot and possibly burned them----not sure. But think I will try the Systane eye wipes.  I have been using the eye drops during the day and they seem to help.  They were recommended by my pharmacist. I know exactly what you mean by the the make-up destruction.LOL When I first started with this, I had just purchased all new Lancome make-up for face and eyes.  I usually do this twice a year. Hope you feel better soon .
