I am a single mother and need to be back on my feet as speedily as possible. The only thing that has kept me active until now is a heavy reliance on pain killers
. Any advice would be awesome. Thank you in advance xxxx

I've had 2 THR's and all I can say is do as your told LOL
Do the exercises beforehand and afterwards that you are given.
Stick to the instructions your consultant and physio give you and the 6 weeks will be over in no time

I am a single mother too, actually adopted and raise my 3 granddaughters, and had both hips done and am on the verge of a revision next month. I do not know how old your child(ren) is but mine have learned to help me in many ways. Women from my church brought meals for the first 2 weeks post op and that helped.
Ahead of time I cleaned and organized my home and made sure everything I would need or eat was put in an easy to reach place with no bending or reaching. I set my bed side toilet up and borrowed a slide in shower chair. I bought a basket for my walker so I could carry things while I walk from room to room.
All pathways into house and inside house need to be clutter free to prevent tripping. My girls are messy so this was a constant battle! Keep loose clothing on hand and I chose to hang out in comfortable gowns/dresses so I would not have to try to get pants on.
For a couple of exercises post op that are done while laying in bed, I used a plastic trash bag for easy sliding back and forth.
These are just some things that helped me. We are here anytime you need us. Everyone is quite wonderful! Wish you the best!

You will have to sleep on your back. You will be out of bed the next day or even the same day. The shower is the worse with the zi,,er frame. I did my foot exercises in bed and drank lots of water. Did EVERYTHING they told me to do, saw it as a challenge. I walked up to the xray when everyone else was in a wheel chair- small little successes.Never pushed it past the recommended level. Went up stairs foot by foot. With my left hip I got in to my automatic car and escaped after 3 weeks. Right hip was 6 weeks. I did all the walking suggested and swam when advised to. I did take maximum time off work that was paid- it paid off as I could exercise in the day. Never give up the exercises. 10 years on I do Yoga and Pilates and swim and walk. Good luck and please write how good you feel here when it`s done.

There's no speedy recovery, you'll just have to follow you body. I know it's hard being on you own but am sure there're people that can help you, for the first 6 weeks you'll need lots of help. It's a slow healing progress, once you have the replacement you dont want to redo the op so you'll just hav to follow the instructions from your consultant and Phys.
Good Luck
