THR at last!!

Posted , 13 users are following.

Well I've eventually had my THR last Thursday and got out  of hospital yesterday.  Everything went brill although they said they had a few problems during the op re: bleeding and the old hip being in a worse condition than they anticipated.  I feel very battered and bruised and my operated leg looks like an oak tree but I'm ok and still smiling.  My consultant has said in the past that he can't help all my OA problems - as in my spine  etc.-   but he will replace anything I need when it arises and no way will I be terrified anymore.  So anyone about to have theres - it is scary but believe me you can cope with it - believe me if I can anyone can!!! biggrin xx

Just picked up on your thread. Glad it is all over and done with. Just concentrating on the recovery process. I am still due to go in tomorrow if the bed available. I think the sedation with spinal is good advice. Thank you.

It was good for me and I woke up feeling like I'd had a really good sleep x  I'm sure everything will go well for you and just take all the advice from doctors, nurses and physio's and it will be fine x

Judi, I must have missed your post.....I've been following daily for the past two weeks in order to get as much information as possible before I go in (July 29th), your account is very straightforward but reassuring....you are obviously at home and hopefully getting around somewhat.....all the best for a full recovery, Patricia from Toronto
