THR same day surgery

Hi i had THR 9 days ago, it was done in a surgery center instead of hospital.
I checked in at 6:30am, surgery started 7:30, I was in recovery by 9:20 and being WALKED out the door by 11:40! It was absolutely the worst experience ever.
I had my other hip replaced 3 1/2 years ago with the same doctor but at the time it was one night in the hospital. He now does out patient when he can due to less chance of infection. I was a same day candidate because I'm fairly young (53) and healthy. The pain I was in when they got me up and walked me out was excruciating. The first 2 days at home were also a challenge.
I'm wondering what other peoples experience with same day hip replacement surgery was like.

i d like to give a reply to mandy as she feels so down. I am 48 yrs old and had hip surgery 11 months ago due to a fall and hip fracture. i was very fit prior my fall.II did not have a Thr ,instead they repaired my femour with 3 cannulated screws. My recovery was also very slow very different from the experience of this people. we have to consider that our surgery was diferent as our bone has to heal, it was not replaced. I used both crutches for 6 months and 1 crutch for another 2 months. Now I ve been walking unaided for approx 3 months. I started working this week as my job is very active. I still have a slight limp while walking especially after standing up from a sitting position. However now I see tha light at the end of the tumnel. Please be patient and positive. I know what it feels like. But you will get better for sure. Good luck for your s and your som recovery.

I have been extremely depressed with severe anxiety with this surgery. Some days I get even get out of the house. Yesterday I saw a therapist. Today I am starting a meditation class. The pain in my knee post hip surgery is overwhelming. I start PT last week, it is painful. I was VERY active, and now will have my doctor extend my disability due to the pain in my knee.
