    Hi Judiwoo,

Hope all goes well, keep taking deep breaths and thinking how much better your hip is going to be! and all the things you will be able to do, hopefully painfree.

I am waiting for a hip revision, so have been thorugh it once, but that doesn't stop it being nerve-racking. Get everything as sorted as possible at home so you don't have to do much when you get back; you'll likely feel really tired and sore at first so take it easy and don't try and do too much too soon. Lots of rest will help you recover quicker. Have you got long handled grabbers and shoe horns and things to help?

Good luck! I'm currently 9 days post op on exactly the same op as you, uncemented with ceramic materials. I'm using two crutches as it's only partial weight allowed for a while, I dare say it will then be one crutch, then finally none! I find sleeping on my back tough as I'm a side sleeper but getting used to it! Got a got tip from a gentleman  here who told me to put a pillow under the leg at night, this helps a lot. It's dificult to replicate the comfort I had in the hospital but I'm getting there. One thing I wish I should have done was to write down the times I had the various pain killers in hospital so I could keep that regime going at home so I had a nice steady stream of pain killers on the body. Listen to the Physio, do their excersises & take your pain meds. I'm wearing the stockings still, I find them ok.remember judi that everyone of us are different, so we will recover in our good time! If you post on here that after say 4 weeks that you think you aren't doing well & someone else with the same post op time of 4 weeks is doing the splits, don't get down, there'll be goood days & bad days I'm sure, but I think that what we all agree on is how wonderful it is getting rid of that arthritic pain! Yes we have post op pain, but not like that arthritic one! Staples out for me next Friday, then it's the Marathon LOL, ok maybe not   cheesygrin

Thank you Martin for the advice especially about the pillow under my leg at nights and writing down the times that I'm given pain killers x It's really good being able to get advice off people who are in the position as myself.  smile

Your welcome judi, lot of very nice people here to walk you through it, no pun intended there. cheesygrin my daughter bought he a pair of those cycling/ weightlifting gloves, the kind with no fingers, and the palm of the glove is slightly sponged which has certainly helped me trecking around the village on two crutches & not being a light weight! She told me she got them from Tesco for around a fiver, they have "york fitness' written on them & are leather. Seems we've picked a nice time of year to get it done eh? cool
