Hello guys,
?I've suffered with Chronic fatigue for close to 6 years or more now and cannot for the life of me figure out why. I have had Saliva cortisol labs to look for adrenal issues and they were ok. Along with my Dr. running various labs that all end up ok.
?I just had a complete thyroid test done that I paid for by myself and wanted to get some help from people that know about this stuff.
?It shows high Reverse t3 and my normal t3 in my opinion is on the low normal?
?Any help would be appreciated.

Humm.. I'm still confused though, because everything I'm reading states that with a high RT3, comes a low T3, and your T3 is not low. Perhaps your just at the start of an illness, where the T3 hasn't had a chance to become affected yet? Do you feel okay? Do you have symptoms of a cold or flu?

I feel fine other than the lethargy for years. It seems the panel mostly looks good, I was hoping something was going to be so far out of whack that it would explain things.

Hi Melissa, T3 and rT3 are basically the same molecule with a tiny change. When T3 levels are high, the body converts T3 to rT3, the rT3 binds up and inactivates the T3. So you can see how the body reacts very quickly to reduce elevated T3.
From what I've read, there's a calculation for rT3 /T3 ratios to calculate your true T3 levels. Honestly though, you have to take these tests with a grain of salt, as there are no absolutes and all the tests are antibody tests, which by nature are subject to cross reactivity and other factors which lead to false negatives and questionable results. You really have to look at the symptoms as well as all the testing, plus your own trial and error of what works.

This will result in thyroid disease over time.

Yes.. correct, That's why I'm confused on why the Reverse T3 is high, while the T3 is not lowered?

Hi EndGame, looks like most of my explanations and solutions were deleted from the posts. That's why the posts are so choppy sounding. Massive deletions...
I sent you a pm with a summary and some resources that you might find helpful. Good luck. Hope you recover your health soon!
