If anyone has dealt with this or know anyone who has I would love if you would share. Im just curious about how the operation goes (its preperations, and after). I have 2 thyroid nodules and they are pretty big and is causing phleghm, voice changes and other stuff. I have no idea if cancer is present but still hoping. Again, just curious and would appreciate if someone would tell me there story. smile

An update from me, I saw my gp today who felt my neck and then rang and got me another ultrasound earlier than I had been booked, it's now this this coming Monday.

The results will then be sent to the him, the specialist and the surgeon, maybe things will move a bit quicker toward surgery for me now.

Good luck Alan, hope all goes well for you. Stay positive. The surgery is not as bad as you imagine (and most people get anxious pre-op). Make sure you take some ear plugs and an eye mask for some peace and quiet in hospital as it can be hard to rest there. And really take it easy afterwards, you will tire easily at first. Lots or water to drink afterwards. Keeping hydrated helps alot. - All the best.

Had surgery and the thyroid was removed, surgery was dificult due to size and recovery seemed ok after initial discomfort, 2 days later readmitted with infection and had 3 days of aspiration at hospital followed again by more surgery to cleanse wound site, 3 days later and I am home recovering again with daily calcium and antibiotics, have sutures removed in 2 days and am hoping all stays well although I still have drainage discharge from wound site.

      Good luck to all.

      Hi Alan

I hope thst you are feeling better.

      Kind regards

Hi Jean, I am taking calcium daily because of Hypocalcaemia which can occur if the tiny parathyroid glands, which are embedded in the back of the thyroid, are inadvertently damaged or removed, mine were unfortunately damaged. I am again on antibiotics after another infection and after the sutures were removed the next morning the wound opened again, I just cannot seem to get a break. Hopefully all will soon be well, I really feel everything that could go wrong for me has done so. At least it was not cancerous, thats a positive. I wish you well.
