If anyone has dealt with this or know anyone who has I would love if you would share. Im just curious about how the operation goes (its preperations, and after). I have 2 thyroid nodules and they are pretty big and is causing phleghm, voice changes and other stuff. I have no idea if cancer is present but still hoping. Again, just curious and would appreciate if someone would tell me there story. smile

Ophelia the website is called the Thyroid Patients advocacy.

I am going to get this appt broought forward if I can. Too many people are going around undiagnosed with thyroid disorders. It is so unfair and really quite unexplicable. There should be there has just got to be a THYROID DISORDERS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN WEEK/MONTH..

Hi, I feel like I'm about to break down I've had scans and 2 sets of fine needle aspiration on 2 nodules they found on my left side of throyid the latest results are more conclusive towards cancerous I'm scheduled anyway for operation on 23rd of Jun but I think it will be a total removal rather than just the left side. So scared. X

      Hello Anita

How long will you have to wait for the results?

I have a biopsy tomorrow. I understand what you are going through.

      Kind regards

I will know in about 3 weeks although the biopsies I've had before operation came back seriously suspicious so I'm sort of expecting the worst, I really expected all my throyid to be removed but they decided just the half that has the nodules, I wish you all the best. Xx

I am  55yo male scheduled for a total thryoid removal due to a at most times overactive and multinodular thyroid. The waiting list in public hospitals in Australia is quite a while unfortunately.

I am experiencing wheezing and breathlessness at present, I am having another ultrasound in 4 weeks and frankly feel anxious that I have cancer. I had a biopsy last month but this proved  inconclusive as there was too much blood present in the samples. I have seen the specialist recently and advised him of the wheezing and breathlessness and he ordered a CT scan which showed nothing out of the ordinary. I guess I just wanted to know I am not so alone. My best to all.

Hi Alan, I am in Central Highlands - VIctoria in Australia. I was Cat2  (less than 90 days) on the wait list. My goitre had slightly displaced my trachea and I had many nodules. I had my TT 17th June and I was surpised at just how large my thyroid was. My surgeon said it was 'huge' - it was larger than a man's fist! - My largest nodule was 4 cm and had papilliary architecture but no cancer thank heavens. I actually saw two surgeons prior to my surgery for their opinions and both said I needed a Total Thyroidectomy. I didn't wait the full 90 days.

Hi elaine14579, I am in East Gippsland - Victoria and have now been 10 weeks waiting for surgery on a semi urgent wait, I am guessing this is Cat2. , maybe this will be sooner as the specialist informed the surgeon that I am having some difficulty at present. The ultrasound I had 3 months ago showed 5 hot spot nodules but I am having another ultrasound in 3 weeks which I feel will show some growth of the thyroid given the heavy feeling and breathlessness I am feeling. It is good to read you have no cancer and your post gives me positive hope and I appreciate that and thank you for taking time to reply.

      Hi Alan,

Don't know if you are on Facebook or not - but there is a great Thyroidectomy Group on there. I have found the information and group are fantastic.
