Time of work after hysterectomy?

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hi Ladies,

I'm due to have a abdominal hysterectomy with a vertical cut due to large fibroids in December. I know everybody is different, but I was wondering how long most of you have stayed of work for? I'm a bit worried as it is advised not to do any lifting for a long time, but my work involves a lot of heavy lifting and being on my feet all day long.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

TrishXx

    Hi Ladies,

thank you all very much for your quick replies. I think I probably will take at least 3 month off, there  no point in going back to soon and making things worse. I rather stay off work for longer and be fighting fit after!!lol

Hi Trish I would say 8 weeks minimum. Even though you think you are all healed after 5 your inside healing has a lot to heal, do not rushback

im7 weeks post op and only just starting to feel able to dosome bits. Back to work end Jan giging me 9 weeks of work.
