Tingling hands and feet/Wooziness

Posted , 18 users are following.

I've had the tingling in hands and feet and dizziness/wooziness all before but the way I've had in last few weeks is different. it's all of course really concerning and scary But goes away after awhile. I seem to get all this weirdness after exertion or last night, I.m getting while I.m sleeping. after exertion i sit down and start feeling really woozy and have tingling in my hands and feet. I just have to sit and feel like hold on for dear life til it passes. then last night I woke up to it...feeling woozy and the tingling in hands and feet. still getting burning in my hands arms, legs, tongue. and when I got up last night to go to bathroom, I am so off balance and whole body is woozy...it's like I.m a rag doll. what's making me all even more terrified is that even my BHRT Dr thinks it's more than hormones. so....im so scared and confused. I.m off work today and having such anxiety I.m scared to leave my bed. I am 41 and know that I've seen so many others suffering this way and know 1st least some of its hormones, but still think it has to be more and so scared. it's completely ruining my life and i have kids, especially a daughter I need to be there for 😦

I totally understand what you are going through as I have had this for 18 months. i have seen so many Doctors over this time including 2 Neurologists who thankfully cannot find anything wrong with me.

The tingling is mainly in my feet and legs and sometimes a burning feeling in my feet. too. I get really weird heads it almost feels like tingling too which makes me sound nuts!! Some days are worse than others. Like you I feel woozy with this and I get really scared sometimes because it's so hard to believe that hormones can cause this. I am 52 and have other menopause symptoms too so I decided to go on HRT. I have been on this for 6 months & it is enabling me to cope with the above symptoms as well as increasing my energy & sleep. I just want to feel like I did before all this crap started but reading these forums makes me feel I'm not alone going through this and hopefully you will too.

    All the best

What a comforting response. I have felt the same way- that it is hard to believe that hormones could make a person feel this way. Take care!

hi there - i have & continue to have all the symptoms you are talking about & i am 7 years post menopause - something we must all keep in mind is that hormones affect every system in our bodies, the nervous system being one of them - i have been to so many specialists/naturopaths/acupunturists/drs & no one can give me an answer as to why i have tingling/burning/electric shock in my body - the only thing i do know is if you are experiencing tingling in both hands or bothfeet it is not caused by a pinched nerve - a pinched nerve will only affect one side of your body (at least that was what my Rheumatologist told me)

Frankly, its just too coincidental that all these peri meno ladies on this forum are experiencing these issues, why dont drs know anything about this? UgH!

yeh, it's on both sides which I was told by a Harvard Dr that it's impossible to have tingling in both hands at the same time. smh. it happens with my feet too. never had before I had the nausea, loss of appetite, getting hot etc. so it has to be hormones, it's just so hard to believe. I have other things going on that make me feel like Its more than hormones but def is hormones partially at least.

it's so unfair to be so young and suffering like this! I am not the same person I was mentally, emotionally, physically 2 years ago. none of it makes any sense. how is it that we are so unlucky in all this?? 😦 hugs

My symptoms started in my late 30s as well, went to several doctors ...not a single one mentioned perimenopause. And my GP wanted to put me on anti depressants.

Good Morning LKL… You are describing my physical symptoms to the T. Including it happening in the night and getting up and feeling off balance. Believe me ...I thought I have a brain tumor, I’m having a stroke, I have a terminal illness. No... it’s all hormones. Is your doctor a man? Because what is so concerning is.... I have said it 100 times before ... the medical community does not know what is up with perimenopause or post menopause. My doctor even said that to me... that the brain and hormones are two of the least things doctors know about. I would suggest taking up any throw rugs if you have throw rugs in your path when you get up in the night to go to the bathroom. Throw rugs cause more Falls then Heinz has pickles. when you’re feeling anxious take a deep breath through the nose for five seconds slowly, hold it for five seconds, blow out slowly five seconds, Do this several times, it really helps. I have the burning as well in fact you know how you said the last few weeks has been worse, this has to do with the season or the barometric pressure, because I’ve had it horrible for like a month. And the burning also, my husband asked me if I have the gout, no I don’t have the gout...I have post menopause. I think I’d rather have the gout then I could pound a bottle of freshly pressed cherry juice and be done with it. have you ever seen a natural path, try to seeinf a natural path about this. what I find concerning though is that you’re on BHRT and you’re still having this? I’m going on BHRT cream that my pharmacist is compounding and I was hoping that that would get better with the cream. For some reason the communication between my pharmacist and my doctors office is very poor, I’ve been waiting five days to get this cream. Of course my doctor didn’t want me to get it because he tried to convince me I was gonna have a stroke, he didn’t realize I was going to be educated on the subject. He also tried to convince me that synthetic hormones are the same as BHRT and I looked him straight in the face and said they are not, whatsoever. Then after doing a slow burn about the way he acted after I got home, I called and left a message with his nurse that he needed to speak with my pharmacist to educate himself on HRT/ BHRT/synthetic HRT. He was trying to intimidate me the whole time I was there. He also confused two pharmaceuticals, Naloxone, with the anti-inflammatory med naltrexone. Now I know they sound simikar, but they are two entirely separate medications. And of course he looked at me straight in the eye as I requested the anti-inflammatory med naltrexone and said that’s the drug that brings people back from a heroin overdose, I was like what? My pharmacist laughed, he said that is not the anti inflam. med! I mean that’s embarrassing ! Anyway, as usual... I digress 😉 When you read this forum... in this forum alone, there are literally millions of dollars spent on testing, neurological, EKGs any and every test for the heart and brain. The medical community knows what’s wrong with middle-aged women, it’s like a broken record. They hear the same symptoms over and over, but oh my gosh, they just don’t know what it is, baloney. We are $1 billion industry. that’s why we have to take the bull by the horn‘s and do our own research, that’s why there’s so many Instagram/Facebook menopausal communities. if you’re on Facebook have you seen “Fixed a flash“, you have to request to be a member. i’m not on Facebook so unfortunately I can’t join. you’re not alone, my friends are experiencing they are tingling/numbness/burning as well. hugs to you xo

I.m part of the fix a flash group and the BHRT I.m on is Wiley Protocol from there. And yes, it is concerning that the only thing it's helped with is the anxiety, but I still get some of the morning anxiety which is horrible. Most concerning is that I believe I have POTS now. After standing for any length of time, my blood starts to pool in my feet and lower legs and all my symptoms start to flare. They say hormones can trigger it. I've always had low blood pressure, but think with all this, it has gotten worse. The more I stand or do, the more I get hot and all these prickly sensations...and the worse my depression gets. I can't believe this is happening or my life...and what if it never gets better? I have 3 kids...Otherwise I couldn't imagine sticking around for this mess any longer. I've always been so independent and I don't even know how much longer I.ll be able to work?! 😦

Dearest LKL.... There are counselors who specialize in menopause, I think it could benefit you. I appreciate exactly what you’re saying about being independent, I was that way also. I am fortunately in the position where I haven’t had to work the last several years, I just don’t spend a lot and we don’t have children so I am fortunate that way. I never went back to work after we took care of my mom when she had a stroke and we took care of her. I know what you mean about those prickly‘s, I just got them when I had a cup of decaf coffee now, and I thought my head was going to explode. The morning anxiety is the worst for some reason, it’s like this dread and horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach. I am very sorry you’re having such a difficult time. it concerns me however your comment about, if you didn’t have three children you may not stick around. This will get better, it will, it won’t stay like this forever. But please talk to someone because it is so helpful. Counselors and therapists can see things, obviously, we don’t and give us tools to help ourselves. Plus it’s so helpful to have someone outside of ourselves because they can see things we don’t. please remember that saying, nothing last forever, this won’t last forever. it is a phase/stage in our lives. that’s why there should be disability for perimenopause/post, as it can be just as debilitating as any other ailment. please know that we are all here for you. also if you go to the NAMS website you may be able to find a therapist there specializing in menopause. I am also keeping you in my prayers. i’ve heard a lot of women refer that POTS, quite honestly when I stand for too long that’s what happens to me, I didn’t know what it was. and again those prickly‘s around my face are so annoying, my eyebrows even itch when I have it. Mel had mentioned hot flashing and feeling woozy after she had a cup of decaf coffee, the same thing just happened to me this morning. I am never having decaf coffee again, that doesn’t even happen to me when I have regular coffee. again we are here for you and please check out that NAMS. do you do yoga, it would be beneficial for you to start a yoga class because they do a lot of breathing which helps immensely 😉 I am with you friend 😃
