This started a week ago at night I started getting ringing sensation in both my ears which persisted that night and wouldn't let me sleep went to the Ent department and got diagnosed as eustachian tube blockage as I had popping of ears and had to constantly swallow so that the ears feel better had a Pure tone audiometry done which should no hearing loss then had a tympanomarty which showed a bit increase in the middle ear pressure got prescribed with anti histamine and antibiotics any idea when the tinnitus goes it has decreased ro an extent it doesn't disturb but if I close my ears I can hear it anyone experienced the same?

My ears still make a crackling sound when i yawn as if i have sticky glue like eustachian tubes

And so much mucus in my throat

All this started after getting sick from a cold 😑 i want my life back

Hey kunal hi! how u doing? I read ur hole chat.

I'm also suffering from ETD from last 1 year. It started on 25th september 2017 when i caught heavy cold. I ws doing well but one day i caught cold, infact heavy cold, i didn't went to the Dr. n thought its a normal cold and will subside within a week. N it didn't bothered me for about 25 days and after 24-25 day i felt my ear

blocked and heard a ringing sound in right ear n later in both ears. It was constant and took hell out me. I went to number good Drs but nothing helped and as a result i fell in depression. Dr gave me sleeping pills because my tinnitus was so loud that i could nt sleep even. Finally with time my ETD started feeling unclogged but crackling and popping was still der while swallowing and yawning and T was also persistent. This tinnitus wasted my one whole year, i skipped my exams and ws completely out of focused. But after copping some strength after getting diagnosed with depression. I decided to start my life once again. But after moving back to studies, unfortunately i again caught with cold and my ear again started feeling clogged and my tinnitus was sometime loud and sometimes low.

Again visited to a new Dr. He get my Audiogram test done which is normal, and also CT scan of my sinuses n nose. I have Deviated nasal Septum which is mild. and from last year i was getting frequent allergy thrice in a Month almost.

I again went to the Dr. he gave me some antibiotics as i had ear pain also and later he gave me some immuno therapy to boost my immunity to clear

clear my ET and he asked me to take steam and have lot of warm water to drink. Though feeling of congestion is occasionally in right ear and left ear. But ringing is still der, but yes now I'm noticing it is fading from last few days. But crackling is still der wen i swallow. Now its an year, I'm still in this problem. I hope it will go soon. this time Dr asked me to do some yoga nd using netipot. der is alot of depressing articles on net. Sometimes i feel so depressed because its affecting my personal and professional life. How mch time u tk to recover? pls reply. after reading ur chat i got some hope to get rid of this prblm.

i don't think Kunal will be getting on

since hes recovered from such a horrible situation

my symptoms are getting better but i still have the slightest tinnitus and some sort of hearing sensitivity when it comes to certain loud sounds

i still do have mucus stuck in my ears which i know from the crackling in my ears when i yawn or sometimes swallow

hopefully once all this goes away my ears will be normal healthy ears again

I'm so sad because of this horrible affliction

Hi Kunal. I am also having similar symptoms from last 1 month. I had a severe sinusitis attack. Today my 15 day anti -biotic course completes. I am using Nasonex spray twice a day.. . My Phlegm which was struck in in Sinuses and found its way into the Euthasian Tubes and therefore Euthasian Tubes got blocked. When the Ear Noises happen due to over production of Mucus it is called Secretory Otitis Media. The Ear Noise due to Secretory Otitis Media is Temporary as per most of the Medical Literature. Some people have fluid collection, Struck Mucus, Inflammation, Hypersecretion in the thin linings of Euthasian Tubes . Now My nasal congestion and Post Nasal Drip is completely gone. The underlying reason for all these was a) Sinus/Cold, b) My Air Travel History as I travelled quite a lot, c)I had been using OTC decongestant for my nose blockages and d) and I had similar episodes in Childhood.Large Chunks of Phlegm came out from Nostrils and Mucus from Mouth. I was given a 15 day Anti Biotic Course by ENT specialist and an Effervescence Medicine for ensuring all Mucus comes out. Once the The Secretory Otitis Media gets treated the symptoms also vanish . The secretions in Euthasin Tube take some time to settle when compared to Nasal Cavity which resolved quickly. The Euthasian Tube is very very small (mm) in diameter so draining or struck liquid/mucus gets very tough. But most of the time these secretions are sterile so ENT doctors leave it there for it to be drained on its own. i.e. use Bodies healing power. My Sinuses are very clear but now i feel minor discomfort in ear, some minor fullness. and minor sound in ear. I am doing Valsava Manouvre for Aeration. Steam to ensure I dont get Sinus again and eating very low fat and Low Salt diet. Additionally I go to gym for 30-45 minutes of physical activity. ENT specialist exactly know that sinus and cold induced noises are due to Mucus and secretion in the Middle Ear. They just wait for any sign of infection so that anti biotic can be given. ENT specialist have numerous ways to take out the struck mucus. There are advanced medical procedures available to remove the mucus, control Hyper secretions and drain the liquid by creating holes in air drum. They can also inflate the Euthasian Tube using balooning tubes if they are trained and its approved in your country. Once the Infection is treated the symptoms start subsiding. So for the cold induced Otitis Media its a test of patience.

One has to work with ENT specialist every 10 days and get a Physical exam of ear drum. Ear Drum tells the ENT specialist the health of your Euthasian Tubes-they can also figure out presence of liquid, struck mucus etc etc. Generally it takes 3 months for all this to settle. One needs to work on their immunity i.e. eat a lot of immunity bossting food.. One must also get their blood presure measured every day because there is anxiety and stress one is facing. Low salt diet is mandatory.

My advise to every one is keep their follow ups with Doctor Regular. and get themselves examined and do what doctor tells. One can read about Otitis media types and find out that doctors have the cure. Most of the medical community is very well versed with this Ear Noise induced by Otitis Media and know it is temporary.
