Tinnitus on Sertraline

Hi all helpful people! I think Sert is slowly starting to help and most side effect have fone completely gone apart from one.... TINNITUS! I am on 200mg and it feels like this is going to be my dose for this horrendous and long depression. I had tinnitus from the start (never had it in my life) and the higher the dose the worse it became. I am ok during the day when it's not quiet bit nigths are not nice. I can fall asleep but hate this constant buzzing in my head!!! I can't really change as it seems like Sert works the best and it has been my 3rd AD since APRIL 2018. Will it lessen with time? Will I get used to it? Any experiences guys? THANK YOU x

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ON THAT DOSE?

Still early, I have been on 50mg for 44 days and I still get bad days. Hoping they will pass soon, as I'm eager to be myself again without all this constant worrying about my health and catastrophic diseases. Please keep us posted.

Agreed, that's a very high dose, side effects are pretty much guaranteed. Keep in contact with your doctor regularly to discuss them. Oh, and please ignore Google...it doesn't help.

hi Ala, good to hear you may have found the correct dose for you. With regards to the tinnitus, yes it should subside, mine has, although it was the last side effect to go, there are tapes you can get fir it called white noise which helps so I understand, not used them myself but if you google it you can see if it is for you

Thank you Sue x I have hopes now. I have no other side effects just bloody buzzing. It not bothering me during the day because it's not so quiet but when I go to bet its very annoying... I have been having a gentle rain sound to help me fall asleep. Was your tinnitus constant but bothering you when quiet? xx

yes it was constant, did not pay it much heed though, I only really noticed it like you do when it was quiet, then I just let it be, if you think about it too much it will be come a big thing, treat it like a naughty child and ignore it if you can, it will get fed up and clear off after a while

Hi, is your mood low? I think if after 8 weeks you feel some improvements but not enough, your doc should help you by increasing I think. Do you have an appointment soon so you could discuss an option of increasing?

i have an appointment next week . will see with him what will he do but what do you feel when increasing ? 100 mg was my sweet spot for 2 yrs .

How long have you been on SERT and what dose? Have you had tinnitus from the start?

I have only been on sert for 4 weeks on 50mg. But I switched from citalopram witch I was on for 20 weeks. Never had it on citalopram. But I have had it from the first week of sertraline. Some days it's not as bad as others. But I'm hopeing it disappears soon
