hi, i dont know if thats normal as my experience was different. as time went on knee got less and less painful. you might want to check with doctor. i wish you all the best. its a long recovery so 6 months isnt that long just feels long to us lol its a hard long recovery but given even more time it does get better 😃

By 6 months, you should not be in any pain, unless overused, etc.

That is a long time to be hurting 😦 I am sorry it's that way for you.

Definitely see your surgeon to find out what they issue is. It's a year long recovery, but by 6 months you should be well out of the painful period unless something like over use, or in my case - 5 heavy cats that insist on sleeping on my legs - things can cause pain - but it should be pretty pain free by now.

Good luck!! Keep us posted - its always helpful for others to hear the outcomes of some of the problematic ops.

I am just over a year after bilateral TKR and have hood and bad days with pain. Last few days have been bad and sometimes feel it will never stop, but then remind myself that I am much better than I was six months ago. I have been to a pain clinic, have had nerve test done and xrays and everything is fine. Unfortunately we are all different and recovery is different for all of us. Hang in there and it will improve, but if you are concerned, it's best to have the surgeon confirm that all is good to put your mind at ease, or find the issue if there is one. It helps me to know I am just taking a longer journey to full recovery.

Takes time, especially after an MUA. The whole recovery typically takes a year with the pain subsiding gradually. Try some Voltaren Gel (generic diclofenac)...best topical anti-inflammatory out there. You cannot take NSAIDS long term...eat through your stomach. There are also OTC pain patches but you may need more icing and elevation. Avoid the nerve meds like gabapentin and lyrica...side effects are tough. Also...

You have to do the muscle rebuild. Right now, all the pressure is on the new knee. You have to switch it back to the surrounding musculature where it belongs. This results in less knee pain. See if these help...

    Other Pain After a TKR

    Muscle Rebuild

The strength work takes time because you start very slowly. BUT IT WORKS!!! You need it for a full recovery.
