I hope this works this is the best concise video I've seen so far

no frills about 10 mins long. It will help understand what you are going through.

warning not for the feint hearted but I would recommend it.

If this link doesn't work I found it be looking at Google  under 'how a total knee replacement works' go to the video search and click on total knee replacement part 2

Helllloooooo everybody im here and so far so good very happy 13 days post op now (L) TKR and I had a spinal after listening to all your fantastic advice in here each and everyone of you offered great help to me .It was fascinating watching my leg being slung over the nurses shoulder when I couldn't feel it at one point I said how many of us are on this table because that's not my leg they said Tina it is I said no I haven't got tattoos on my leg,the surgeon said Tina thats the arrow I drew on earlier lol we all had a giggle I would defo recommend a spinal to people the pain block after is wonderful. I feel im doing ok right now but kinda worried the worst part is to come as most people I know I have spoken to most definitely say it gets really hard , post op tips and advice very welcome and a massive thank you to you all you got me through it i was ready to cancel when i heard spinal! xx

Haha you gave me a good laugh reading that.

I too saw my leg raised and asked is that mine? Because my legs felt as if they were curled up in front of me lol

      😁

I also asked for the music to be turned up as i couldn't hear it properly over the drill!

      Surgeon said 'that's a first'!

Hope you continue to keep your sense of humour it will really help in the weeks ahead believe me! smile

I really believed it was someone elses leg such a weird feeling next day on the ward I accidently pulled out my leg drain it was like a murder scene I had my blanket on my knee I had brought in with me all soft and fluffy and smelling of home to keep me calm at night then I had blood spurting out of the drain end and out of the hole in my leg I had my lovely blanket soaking up the blood from my leg pressing the buzzer for the nurse lol the cleaners certainly weren't smiling when they had to come clean the carpet and walls lol I was sat on my chair outside the room while they did it giggling to myself because I felt like I was on the naughty chair ha .Think your so right keeping up the humour has to help you get by Tina xv

OMG how horrific - and funny!

I didn't have a drain.. When the op was finished i heard the surgeon say 'bugger, it's fallen off' i almost sat up behind the blanket at that! He calmly looked at me and said 'oh not the leg, just the drain...'

I still giggle when i recall my op lots of funny moments.

I also had writing on my leg.

When i first arrived they kept saying 'hip replacement' so i told the surgeon to make sure he knew what he was doing so he wrote. 'TKR' then an arrow and signed it!

I have the photo lol smile

Ha ha so funny seems like we have the same sense of humour I too have taken photos all the way to record it .They wanted a new x ray of my knee before the op and they wrote right on the x ray I kept saying no left follow the arrow, all the way in theatre I was saying follow the arrow lol when all the theatre staff walked in it was like being on the moon they were all gowned up with big massive helmets on so weird to watch but worth it I would say . Good job we can laugh about these things my daughter is 23 and although bright comes out with some things I wonder where she even thought of them for instance she asked me what country does the "kebab"live in ha ha I said if only you knew , well when I came home from this op feeling sorry for myself she made me laugh so much it hurt she had ordered a dress off of E Bay it was verh very cheap because it was from China she said she couldnt wait for it to arrive and put a note on the invoice if no one in please leave with a neighbour , well it came the day I came home her face as she looked puzzled and opened the packet......it was a barbie dolls dress do tiny that's why so cheap I couldnt stop laughing as she threw it bin the bin screaming now she had nothing to wear tears were rolling down my face ha ha ha made me laugh, well time to try get some sleep although I know I wont again sigh! But keep trying so ill say goodnight and catch you later on sleep tight Tina x
