TO ALL POSTMENOPAUSAL WOMEN: Did your symptoms cease, subside, or get worse?

Hey Ladies...
Yes, its me again! I have been posting regularly; I enjoy this site immensely! It helps me get through the term MENOPAUSE, or shall I say MENTALPAUSE!! I am fully-aware, I am NOT alone on this HORRIFIC journey, and you ladies assure me of that obvious fact. I am NOT CRAY-CRAY; my hormones are imbalanced, just like you all's.. I've read and been told when our period ceases for 12 consecutive months, we will feel better! Well shut the front door and call me Mary! That is NOT true, your Honor. I am DEEP in the throes of postmenopause; my period stopped four years ago, and my post menopausal symptoms got WORSE!! That being said, if any of you lovely ladies are post-menopausal, have your symptoms gotten better, worse, or manageable?

Hi Vivian,
Most def worse post menopause. I knew as soon as my periods stopped things were going south on me. Another poster stated on here that all hell broke loose, that's a good way to describe it. I didn't waste anytime getting on bio identical hormone replacement. Best decision I could have made. No regrets almost 6 years post. I wanted my life back and I got it. Most women including myself thought once their periods end all will be good again. Unfortunately that's not the case for most.

Hey Jude...
ALL hell broke loose is an absolute description of what happened to me and countless other women, as soon as our periods ceased! I would just FALL and hit the ground for no apparent reason. I would wake up some mornings, and have SCRATCHES ALL OVAA my body! WTH? My eyes became soooo.. dry! I experienced evil, intrusive thoughts and images, that were relentless! Prior symptoms I had, came back with a VENGEANCE!! I am sooooo... AFRAID to try BHT, simply because, I've been told they cause Cancer, and one of my friends was on the treatment for 15 years, and her doctor told her it was time to STOP taking them. He did not write her anymore prescriptions for BHT, and the SAME day she did NOT take them, she said, and I quote: ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS CAME BACK, AS IF THEY HAD NEVER LEFT! She was a basket-case, if you will. I've been going the ALL-Naturel route... and it has NOT been easy, yet I suffer and push through, daily! Somedays, I feel as if I cant make it through the next hour, let alone day. Someone even posted, its (menopause) a minute to minute thing. Having said that, I am glad you're doing better and got your life back, per your post! I hear you! Whatever works for you and makes you feel a sense of long-awaited normalcy is great!

Vivian,
The key is to find a good alternative or holistic Dr that will run reg lab work and get you on what your body needs. Seems general docs are treating by the old protocols that never have worked such as synthetic hormones and a one size fits all all approach. There is many good books and videos on bio identical hormones that will explain and make you less fearful of using them. Lots of health benefits keeping our hormones replenished. I plan to stay on them until my end day. Yes, your symptoms will come back if you stop taking them. I am with a holistic dr that practiced general medicine for 24 years before going holistic. I kind of have the best of both worlds with him. A body depleted in hormones in both men and women starts to bring on all kinds of health issues. I was hesitant too but I researched and read lots of stuff and feel I made a good decision. I've said it on these boards many times, its very important to find a doctor that knows what their doing, understands menopause issues and does regular labs.

toria,
Not sure how many are happy though. My own mother was still dealing with hot flushes at 81 . I've never been a person to take any medication but watching so many women suffer along for years I chose replenishing my hormones.

I'm sure it depends on the person. Because I have 2 sisters who has long menopause and 2 early w/ hysterectomies and neither complained of symptoms. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case for me. They cant understand how and why im having these symptoms from menopause.

I havent been on here in awhile now. i hit the 12 month mark this past July and had been feeling more like myself again. I thought the health was a thing of the past,, but it comes and goes. I am still dealing with digestive issues(on and off). Recently started feeling the brain fog, the congested feeling in my head, hot flashes(although not as much as before), insomnia(on and off), creepy crawly skin, and doom and gloom scary thoughts. I have to admit it is better than when I was in the early stages of peri. hang in there, i think we'll eventually kick this!

Hey Menomel...
Of ALL the menopausal trios, POSTMENOPAUSE has been thee absolute most horrific for me! Contrary to popular belief, the symptoms don't get better, they get WORSE!! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!! I am a living testament to that obvious fact! One of the ladies posted on this site, nothing lasts forever. We will get through this tsunami; and we will be able to help other women get through it! We are the the generation who will tell women the no-sugar ADDED truth about the trios; and we wont say it is the change, simply because it is more than the change, its life-altering!
Be Well,
Vivian

You are not along!!! I thought I was on the other side as well! I went 2 years post and I am telling you on my 2 yr anniversary the same week i had my last period..guess what happened? i had a post bleed but im sure it was triggered by this detox/ hormonal balancer herbal tea . I went through all the testing and biopsy was normal..Afterward symptoms came flooding back. i think a trigger were from herbs and or biopsy. I feel awful... the symptom i started off with peri like acid reflux, lack of appetite/ weigh loss im having again. Not to mention the anxiety among others Im so overwhelmed!!!!
