But why Billy, you battled do hard to get this far. And honestly reading all the good on site helped me so much, including having operation done with spinal block and sedation. The pain has gone and walking is a pleasure. Please rethink.

Here is an extract from a letter I got today :
You are right that there may be activity being undertaken in private facilities that does relate to the nhs but this will be where arrangements have been put in place by health boards to help towards local waiting time and capacity issues, and where patients have then been asked if they would be willing to attend elsewhere – much like arrangements we currently have with Golden Jubilee but just with a private facility .
I appreciate that you have indentified issues that you have had with both Woodend and with Golden Jubilee, and that this is what has led you to seek treatment at the private hospital in Edinburgh.
If you would like the issues you have raised to be looked into and to see if from this there is anything else that can be offered to you through NHS Grampian and delivered locally or through another nhs facility then we can certainly do this for you.
This is the latest update so I said yes forward my email and see what can be done
Any thoughts

Hi! I think its only natural to feel nervous, despite knowing what to expect!

Only you Billy knows what's best for you. Have you been able to find out how experienced this surgeon is like how many ops he does a year and if he has to 're do any ? Can you find another surgeon who's not worried abt your muscle mass? I agree tho 're your thoughts 're them wanting to keep their figures good for them. But they need to realise they're mucking and with people's lives.
If I was you I'd not yet make my mind up but take your time coming to a decision as you'll have to start at the beginning of the process if you decide to leave it then change your mind.
Good luck whatever you decide

i thought about all this in another post
you will see he did not even answer my question on what approach he would use , just ignored me the main thing on his mind at this time was his lunch

Hi All
I have found another hospital that has an excellent hip operation department, One draw back is like the other one it is private and I need to be referred there by NHS Grampian. I dont think they will do this because i have been a smart ass and looked and studied what I think would be the best treatment for me , Although they do not know this part yet.
So instead of giving up I have looked for and hopefully found the perfect soultion
If needs must I will pay for it myself which would leave me strapped for cash for about 5 years but then again you cant put a price on your health and happiness
will keep you updated
your regular nuisance

Great news Billy. Hopefully you'll get referred there by the NHS but at least you've the option of paying if need be. I was like you in that sense if by some quirk the nhs wouldn't operate then I was prepared to pay but that would mean I'd be penniless till my govt pension kicks in in 4 yrs. So I was glad I got referred. Agree tho you can't put a cost on your health. I just want to enjoy my 2 gorgeous grandsons for as long as I can 😃 good luck tho with the referral

That is terrific news. You could not have gone on without having something sorted out on your hip.

It was luck I found this hospital , I have asked the nhs for funding lol
if not i will try and fund it myself
Tomorrow I am on a mission first to make an appointment with my Doctor and second Get hold of my dentist who told me I was ok for surgery
Might be selfish but now I have found this hospital it looks like my only option so its going to be an interesting week
I will keep you all updated , I just hope this is helping others out there who are having doubts what to do

sounds positive Billy.
i actually paid for my first hip as i had been fobbed off by nh s for so long that the pain had become unbearable .
i paid to see the surgeon and 2 weeks later had my new hip and never looked back.
he sympathised with me and said that when other hip needed doing to get nhs referral to him asap which i did and then on,y hadto wait 8 weeks for other new hip so now have a matching pair.
although it broke the bank paying for the first hip i do not regret it as to be pain free and mobile was worth every penny.
good luck
