Tomorrow I go home!~

HELLO hippies!! Well it's been 2 weeks since my 2nd hip revision surgery. If y'all remember, I dislocated my first hip replacement after 3 weeks! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks that I've been in inpatient rehab and I get to go home! Wednesday they came out to my house to do a home evaluation, see how I can get into the house, if there are any steps, how tall they are, how I will be able to get around the house with wheelchair and walker. Also showed my hubby how to get me in & out of the house in the wheelchair safely. This has been very educational for us and being in rehab taught me a lot too. So main goal is "NO FALLS". I will still be non weight bearing and no movement to hip for another 4 weeks! 😫 I see my surgeon this cmg Tuesday and hopefully I can take a shower!! I also am unable to get in the car so my mode of transportation will have to be those vans that are equipped to taking ppl in wheelchairs. So the road is still long. I will be home alone most of the day, I'll be having to chill, no trying to sweep, mop or vacuum!! Best thing about going home, is being with my hubby, my family, my dog and sleeping in my bed! Bad thing about going home, I won't have these fine folks here to see, talk, lift your spirits.....but it's time to start a new chapter to this hip saga. God's bless to all!! Hugs, 🤗🤗 LD

You are very brave. Things will start to smooth out once therapy begins. Once the incision has heeled ask for water therapy too. Getting back core strength and muscles is important. Eat well & lots of protein shakes for strength and heeling.

Keep on movin... Best wishes for a great recovery.

      Hi Linda,

i totally get what al you are facing. Had a couple THR ONE was recalled 6 weeks later.

stay active and don't let the pain get ahead of you. Take pain meds as needed. This is major surgery and takes time for bone to grow into implant components to strengthen the leg.

By Christmas you'll be dancing to all your fav songs.

exersice is important and never over do. Listen to your body and rest is important for heeling to!

      keep me posted.

Oh wow Hope!! 😳 So how are you now? My dr is being very cautious and strict! Said no weight bearing for 6 weeks & no physical therapy that engages the hip for 6 weeks! All I do see knee press downs & ankle pumps. I did get clear to bend my knee as far as I can tolerate but not to break the hip flex of 80%. Uugghh it's tough hopping on one leg with walker!!

Doing OK. REHAB is very good. Follow the psio in treating THR .follow all the restrictions eat well and walk .

I'm sure you will be over this in a few months. It takes the bone a few months to grow and strengthen the implant components. Give it time be mindful of all you do for a great recovery.

My recall is a long story due to metal on metal components. still doing well one day at a time.

      take care.

soon this will be all just a thought in the wind!

Well, there's no place like home!  I'm glad you are doing well, and had the opportunity to heal some at the rehab, you will now be better equipped to continue at home.
