    Good morning Carla ...

How are you doing ?   Were you able to get a decent sleep ? did you get something for the pain?  I am 14 days post op from 2nd THR so I remember it well - different kind of pain though huh?

Today will be a busy day for you ... I had to go to x-ray, blood was taken and Physical Therapist came twice - had to sit in a (very uncomfortable) chair and I so wanted to be in bed and just revel in the fact that it was all done !!!!  nope ... no rest rolleyes - at least not long enough -

wow,  goint to the toilet by your self is sooooooo big !!!

be gentle with your self -

    love and blessings

Well today is the day for Carla, hope all goes well for her.

Since she is having hers done in the United States I will be very interested to hear if she has swelling afterwards. I wish her well.

24 hours post op. Surgery went well. Getting up and walking to the bathroom and back, took about 20 steps last night. Not much swellin or bruising yet. My leg however does fill like 100 pounds. Dr Said after 48 hours after all the spinal and novicain goes away I'll be in even worse pain. But this to shall pass.

Going to stay at hospital for at least one more day!!.

      Welcome back Carla ..

good to hear that surgery went well - you have already been to the bathroom ( they put me on ice cold, not-big-enough bed pan for the first 12 hours !!!) -

Ask for pain medication okay - I know they discharge you much earlier in the USA then here in Holland -

do you have support at home or get any home health care -

      Big warm hug

Sounds like you are doing great Carla.  This too shall pass will serve you well throughout the recovery process. Take it one moment at a time and know it will keep getting better and better.  Best wishes for an easy and speedy return to normal.

The hospital almost didn't let go home today because of constipation, But I just needed to come home. I could barely sleep while there. So much noise. So they let me go.

All else is going well. I spent 6 weeks prior to surgery strentghly my legs and arms. And that has really help. So if you are someone waiting for your surgery, start lifting hand weights and doing leg lifts with ankle weights. It will make a world of difference- everyone who came by to check on me were happy to see how well I was doing. I can't wait to walk a long distance.

Good luck to everyone waiting to have this done.
