Yes, my leg and foot were very swollen. Think it's pretty normal. I used to put my feet up in the evening, and put a cold pack on the worst part. In the morning they were better, but used to get more swollen as the day went on. I think by about week 3, the swelling was getting less. Good luck.

Have just joined this forum - I am 2 weeks post-op tomorrow. I just wanted to say how reassuring it is to read of everyone else's experiences. I feel that I was unprepared for the amount of pain following surgery, and this wasn't helped by people saying "my neighbour/uncle/mother was up and about straight away" so I have been very worried that something is wrong or I've done something wrong. My greatest fear is that the surgery hasn't worked!

Anyway, I now won't feel so worried as I try to ignore the twitchy muscles, the dreadful stiff pain in my hip, the feeling that a tractor has run over my thigh, my irritation at having to lift my leg out of bed every two hours to use the bathroom....so, thank you to all of you, and I wish everyone lots of luck for a speedy recovery and a good night's sleep.

      Welcome Ange

So you've joined the 'hippie' club and having a 'normal' recovery then 😆.

      Thankfully it gets better.

Yes I am very pleased with my progress. I find looking back and remembering what it was like last week, last month and seeing how far I've come even in just under 8 weeks makes me feel good.

Just remember to take lots of rest, listen to your body and don't push yourself, it's been through a lot. 'Whoever' you come across it's your pace you're working to you're not in a competition.

Good luck on the rest of your recovery

Hi Gail, not sleeping is normal, i used to sleep two hours at night than wake up ,trip to TOILET back to bed watch tv or read the book. It will get better with the time.  Rest if you need it, do some excersice, drink plenty of water, eat  the fruit, use the medication if you are in pain. Heeling take time and evry one heeeling differently.  Take a day at the time. You are in early stage  give your self time.

Every day will get better. Take it easy  heeling hug MADLA.💗💗
