Trapped nerve in hip

Can anyone advise me what to do with a trapped nerve?

I have quite an intense pain when I walk sometimes and it 'catches'. I literally can't walk when it happens, has anyone successfully been able to fix this? And if so how? My phsyio has been moving it etc, but she has made it worse 😦((((((( much worse.

Would love some advice please

Yes I can feel some movement inside, but can't hear anything. Do you have this? What is it?

Doodle I am so sorry this has happened to you.

The only reassurance I will give you, is the nerve pain and trapped nerves happened with my first hip replacement, and they did resolve. I can't remember how, but they did get better in time.

Good news that the hip is fine, so hopefully they can help you with the other problems. Quite a few hurdles we have to endure to recovery.

      Hope you feel better soon

Have you had an mri scan to check exactly what is going on with the hip or more the muscles around it

No not yet, I was going to give it another week or two before contacting a doctor to see if it settles down.

I had the same problem and at times I could not walk at all with lots of pain. Since I had both hips done 3 months apart my pain and limping would go back and forth. I gave it some time and kept exercising and it went away after a year. I still have numbness in both hips along my outer thigh. Once in awhile I have pain, but I'll take this pain over what I had before I had the operation. Good luck!

Okay that is good that it went in time. I will keep going!

I hope it has more or less resolved now?

I had my replacement in November and ended up with a trapped sciatic nerve. my physio started with lots of painful manipulation in January and gave me exercises like rolling a tennis ball on the base of my spine. seriously, it made no difference for the first 6 visits, aside from making me feel worse but now its actually coming good!!

From my experience I would say persevere for a while and see how it goes - its not a quick fix apparently! I'm going weekly still but my pain and mobility have really improved over time. Best of luck to you 😃

Thank you Suzie that is reassuring. I will try the tennis ball. It is annoying as otherwise I would be fine. So hoping it will ease off.

when I saw my osteopath, he worked in my lower back and then on the muscles of operated hip. He also uses actupuncture and tens machine and I wish I could afford him every week as I walked like a dream and had no limp!

Did you have a leg length discrepancy? I do from the surgery.
