Treatment info for Blepharitis

Posted , 121 users are following.

Has anyone found treatment info specifically for Blepharitis? I'm told the same old things like "scrub with baby shampoo" and I'm not getting any better.

I'm frustrated and hope that some doctor somewhere has studied this terrible condition - and just want to find the answers!

Thank you,

Oliver, London

    Hello!

This thread has been my go-to website over the past few months since my GP first diagnosed me with Bletharitis.... long story short in the past week I've had a huge epiphany after a huge swell up following using a new dandruff shampoo (which was meant to be a good cure)....

Turns out I'm allergic to Coconuts.... specifically on my skin.

It's in everything...more than most realise, in its pure form or used as the base of so many of those long words on the back of our shampoo and bubble baths...

....it's even in the baby shampoo I've been washing my eyes with twice a day. It's in all those sulphur free shampoos for sure.

I've gone completely back to basics avoiding absolutely anything coconut or coconut derived.

My bletharitis has gone, flakey skin is clear and glowing, life long dandruff and rashes gone.

Have a go (boots is not your friend think more health food shops/ the super market - minstry or morocco method currently ONLY coconut free shampoo options I've found (or else baking soda and cider vinegar google "no poo" (!) - weleda for skincare but double check ingredients for each product)

I'll write more soon... but I'm so relieved to finally be on the other side of bletharitis and I really hope this clue helps some others.

All the best to you all,

    Jane

Try fluticasone nasal spray!! Has anyone used nasal allergy sprays?! I've had blepharitis for about 7 months now. Tried wet ones, shampoo in my eyes, steroid shots, steroid creams, etc. These all worked temporarily. Decided one day to try a nasal spray after seeing an ad for allergies. I bought at rite aid and after 3 days my eyes are starting to feel normal!!! It kinda makes sense to treat your eyes through your nose since they all all connected. Today is day 3 and I have only had to use wet ones once and some eyes drops. Other than that my eyes are FINALLY starting to feel normal! I wanted to tell someone! Maybe someone here can try it and let me know if it helped at all??

I really hope it works for you! I actually played outside with my kids today and realized my eyes didn't react to the wind and sun. I'm usually a mess if I'm outdoors. It has been a really long time since I've been outside and felt fine

I have blepharitis for the past 12 years also been diagnosed with vasomotor rhinitis and also have itchy ears. I wonder if there's any correlation between these conditions. I also have steroid nasal spray doesn't seem to do much good.

I have big read scaly almost blistered red eye lids and entire eye area that is itchy and horrendous looking.  It can cover my entire eye area like a raccoon and can extend to cheeks. I am treating it for eczema of the eye area with Vani lotion and preservative free eye drops.  I keep the eye drop in refrigerator and the Vani lotion, it feels better cool.  I wash my face with the lotion and splash cool water during the day.  It's the only think that keeps it from flaring.  The wipes only worked for awhile then became too drying.

Lactoferrin- 1000 mg a day- helps grab hold of free iron in the blood. Get an IRON PANEL in your blood work. I have a nutrition absorption problem from CANDIDA. I started the lactoferrin and its cured in one day. Never came back. Its been months.

look into how iron / oxygen is needed for the body to work correctly.

I have blepharitis in left eye now for a few months, after having a detached retina repair in that eye a year ago.  Like yourself same ole things, dont work.  It clears for a few days and then comes back.  I got castor oil, cold pressed, hexane free and put a small drop in last night.  Seems to be good so far, in keeping eye moist.
