Treatment that works!

My skin is ultra sensitive. Has anyone any idea what I can use apart from clobetasol to relieve pain and inflammation around groins and external pubic area. Feels like skin is " chaffed" and angry and red. Distressing plus plus.

Muriel643, I finally had to ask for a prescription for Lidocaine, which is a pain reliever cream. She gave me that and a Bacitracin Zink ointment  as well. For chaffing I use over the couter Aquphor. These have done great for me for relieving the pains. Hope this can help you.

    Muriel poor you 😐

Perhaps your doctor can prescribe a ointment with an anaesthetic in it to dull the pain.

I found Betnovate ointment less intense than  clobetasol

    Just a thought 🙏🏻😘

Have your read "An Experiment with Borax" already.  Good discussion and perhaps you would wish to try.

?What I sometimes do is mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a small amount of coconut oil and apply that, when things feel 'so angry'.

I have recently begun to use castor oil (the clob seems to have lost its effectiveness) as recommended by another forum user.  I have been using it for several weeks and it is proving to be a Godsend.  The mix is 4 tablespoons of castor oil to 1 drop of lemon grass essence oil and 2 drops of lavender essence oil (although castor oil on its own seems to work just as well).  You just need a drop or two, massaged in gently and it seems to stop all sticking, itching and chaffing.

Thank you. I'll give it a go. Clobetasol not working for me either. Have been experiencing worst ever flare up and nothing was working. Slightly better last day or two. Fingers crossed. Trial and error.

Hello.  Just trawling through all ls posts and desperate for relief after 5 weeks burning and pain.  How are you doing now?

Slightly but so uncomfortable. Awful having to plaster yourself with all the stuff of the day. Would use anything for relief. Hope some of other comments help you too. It's a very isolating condition and unless you suffer from it it's difficult to talk to others about. Good luck!

      Hi Pamela poor you 😩

Sounds like you have one hellava flare up going on

What is your Doctor saying ??

If it were me initially I would go to the loo

I would soak my ‘Ladyship’ in soothing salt bath and dry with hair dryer Cool Air

(I bought portable bidet ) off Amazon love it ??

Apply Betnovate ointment. (Not as intense as  Dermovate)  and try rest with feet up for a while.

I dont know your circumstances for rest but please try 🙏🏻This has gone on too long for anyone to handle

Later in the day I soak again same process and apply Betnovate

This needs constant attention until you get some relief.

Then I would use coconut oil when calmer.

Try and keep it simple as possible Pamela

Too many treatments at one time can be counter productive.

It is difficult to give advise as everyone is different but with flare ups, whilst I don’t like using steroids  they work.

Please let me know how you are sweetheart X

Thank you so much for your kind words.  I try hard to do all the right things - baths and bicarb.  Vaseline and coconut oil. I use eumovate steroid cream nightly. Everything now seems to be making the burning worse so will have to grit my teeth for another 12 days until my gynaecologist appt.      it gets very worrying as the weeks go by with no relief! I find it hard to rest but will have to try ... as you suggest! You sound knowledgeable in all this !

Pamela can you get to see your GP and ask for Betnovate ointment instead of Eumovate

During flare up I would use steroid morning and night

Really is worth a try sweetheart so  you don’t have to suffer for another 12 days.  Bliddy ugly LS

      👹

      Sending big fat hug 🤗

Hi Pamela did you manage to see doctor ?

I hope you are getting some relief   🙏🏻

Just read Muriel tried Vick 😱

Still it worked for her thankfully so who knows.

Bliddy hell what with laundry agent (Borax) which really helped me and lots of other women on here.    Now Vick !! Who knows what we will be slapping on next ?

It could be funny if not so painful 😖  for you at the moment

      Take care X

Hello again.  I slept on and off this morning so took advantage of that - amitriptyline! I don't really feel dr would help me any more at the mo. Keeping my eyes[literally) on my bits - starting to look a bit blistery now.  Thanks for your messages. I have still been using the coconut oil as otherwise the area would be too dry.  Not going near Vicks though! Oh dear!

      Morning Pamela

When are you due to see your LS consultant next ?

Hello   Just over a week now thank god! Thank you!

I know everyone is different... but I found that suddenly all the steroid cream absolutely burnt like crazy when I put them on.  All the different ones that had worked in the past wrecked ( dermovate, eumovate etc etc). I think I had at least 6 different ones that wrecked.  Two things helped me break the cycle.

      1.  Ask the doctor to give you steroid OINTMENT not cream.  It is amazing the difference it made.  Hardly any irritation when putting it on.

      2. Have a break from steroids and instead just apply Hydromol Ointment ALL THE TIME.   Especially before and after going to the loo/ shower.

Good luck. A lot of this is trial and error.  Don’t loose heart x
