Tummy issues and sooo tired

I guess I got too excited after my last PT session on Wednesday, because all day yesterday I was in bed with tummy issues except for many trips to the bathroom. And sooo very tired. I slept off and on most of the day. Not feeling great today either. No fever thank goodness. I am going to miss PT because of it. I was hoping to be doing better at 4 weeks then I am. I did all the right things to prepare my body before surgery, but I'm not sure that helped. Il just keep on keeping on.

Expectations are your WORST ENEMY!!!  Slap yourself in the face everytime your brain blurts one out!  The is no time limit, there is no race, there is no comparison to anyone else's progress...especially the one in your own mind.  Everyone gets through this in their own time...period.

There are advances, setbacks and plateaus...guaranteed...we've ALL gone through them.  Gotta be more Zen about this: "I'll be better when I'm better."...you know, like telling the kids in the back seat: "We'll get there when we get there."  You do yourself a great disservice by expecting more than what actual reality gives you.  Are you better than you were in week 1?  Hell yeah!

My big post gives some ballpark estimates, garnered from reading the posts of soooo many people...

But, in actuality, NONE of them apply directly to YOU as an individual.  If you take your meds a bit longer than others?  So what.  If it takes you a bit longer to get to 0 / +120?  So what.  It doesn't matter.  Just know that in 6-12 months, it will all be behind you.  I'm 7 months p/o with zero pain, no meds or aids, 0 / +131 flexion, sleeping great and ready to go back to work.  Yeah, there's still some stiffness and clicking.  Who cares?  Hopefully, those will be resolved in the next year.  If not, I can certainly live with them...better than the pre-op pain.

So just stop beating yourself up...

Hi angel...sorry for the stomach issues. Dont know how old you are but, have to say at 4 weeks dont be so hard on yourself.I believe you will see the results a little farther down the road...pt. before surgery definately is worth it and will be a benefit to you in recovery.Didnt do the pt.the first time and wish I would have...took way longer to recover.,this time ( 2nd tkr)it helped me recover way faster and stronger at 8 weeks. IT IS A INTENSE RECOVERY...but your right keep on keeping on.Youve been thru a pretty big ordeal and make no mistake it is ruff but you will feel better and better each day.wonder if meds your on are messing with your stomach.? I went for my 7 week check up and got the ok to drive...yeah! still get sore sitting too long and in same positions too long but each day am able to do more and more and pain will get less and less.pray you start to get some relief and feel good about your movement. They say you should give yourself a year ish...Hang in there. best wishes♡
