Turmeric and Pred
Posted , 11 users are following.
A couple of years ago I had an TIA and was prescribed statins. After a short while I started getting leg pains so I stopped taking them.
I have been taking turmeric for a while as it is supposed to reduce cholesterol. My last blood test showed an improvement but the doctor wasn't convinced it was the turmeric!! I have another blood test next week.
But, turmeric is also an anti-inflammatory and I am not sure if I should continue taking it while taking pred.
Any thoughts?

I have been taking it in pill form, too big a wimp to take powder!
I tried a couple of sorts but with some you need to take black pepper as well and my digestive system didn't like it. I have been taking Nature's Best Curcusorb tablets with no ill effects and my last blood test was fine. I have another blood test on Tuesday and I asked my GP if he could include a cholesterol test so I will let you know the results.

Hi whitefishbay, that is quite a name. Sounds like you are on the ocean. I'am from Narragansett, RI but we now live in the mountains of New Mexico. Turmeric I take 400 to 500 mg twice a day. The current tablets are 440 mg.
Good luck on your journey. ??
