Turmeric and Pred

A couple of years ago I had an TIA and was prescribed statins. After a short while I started getting leg pains so I stopped taking them.
I have been taking turmeric for a while as it is supposed to reduce cholesterol. My last blood test showed an improvement but the doctor wasn't convinced it was the turmeric!! I have another blood test next week.
But, turmeric is also an anti-inflammatory and I am not sure if I should continue taking it while taking pred.
Any thoughts?

Check some older episodes of trust me I'm a doctor. There's one where it was demonstrated how diet can lower cholesterol as effectively as statins, at least for some people. I don't remember everything but it included eliminating red meat and, unfortunately, eggs, and increasing vegetables. I think it's also been shown that olive oil, so far alone of all the commonly used oils, has a protective effect against heart disease.

There are some contraindications for turmeric for some people, you'd have to google it as I can't remember them, but I don't think taking pred is one of them.

There is a scholarly article associating turmeric with anemia by interfering with the body's iron stores. This can cause anemia. This can be a problem with the anemia of autoimmune diseases. Iron can be taken but not at the same time. I became very anemic after a month on turmeric but maybe it was also the anemia of PMR. This went away with prednisone- according to my doctor. I suggest keeping an eye on the blood count.

Lily, as a kid I love to eat Frank-O-American spaghetti, it use to kill my parents. Most of my health issue are from my dad's side. My mother was from Nova Scotia, and was very healthy, die of a heart attack at 89. She was living alone at the time. Would walk a mile or more to the grocery store, wanted no help. ??

I don't know where my health problems come from. My father was a smoker and that led to problems, pneumonia and eventually lung cancer but he seemed healthy until then and might have made it past 64 without the cigarettes. My mother died at 32, brain haemorrhage, but her sister is still alive, must be around 90 something, very frail now but still lively until a couple of years ago. But I and all her children have had various problems. The only one of her children who seems to have remained physically healthy despite a rather difficult adult life is a son she adopted, which seems to point to some sort of genetic component.
