TURP Surgery

Hi, I had TURP surgery 8 days ago. since I've left hospital I have to wee every half - one hour. the pain is awful feels like my penis is going to explode at end of wee. I can't open my bowels without laxatives and because of all this I have only been getting maybe 3 hours sleep at night. I am just worn down now and feel like this has ruined my life. I spend all day just dreading the next wee and things have not improved at all, am I just unlucky or is this more common? I need some hope that it will improve because I can't go on like this. Any advice or if you experienced this how did you cope. Thank you

Hi mate,
A lot of info you'll find here: https://patient.info/forums/discuss/turp-operation-or-laser-or-leave-alone--61900?page=1#topic-replies
From my side - it's typical for first weeks. If it's very painful - visit emergency department and let them put catherer on for few weeks.
Here is my diary but after BNI if you're interested:

Paul, I also had a TURP 2 years back. 8 days is not a long time in recovery so hang in there. Everyones recovery period will vary. Drink plenty of water to flush out the clots and make sure you are on the right level of pain killers. Pain when peeing post TURP is pretty common. It will take a few weeks for things to settle down and probably 6-8 weeks for full recovery. The op was a life changer for the better for me.
