TVT Operations....How many of you have found this successful?

Posted , 62 users are following.

I had a TVT op five years ago, and had no idea of the problems some women had with this, until I read about them on here.

Could the women who have had this operation successfully please stop by and tell us how you are, and how long ago you had your TVT.

Thanks in advance.

I suffered with stress, urge and  bowel incontinence. Stress since I was little and urge and bowel for the last six years. Bowel due to bile malabsorption due to gall stones 15 years ago. Not sure why it played up so many years later.

Urge came with the bowel and I struggled walking anywhere longer than 10 minutes. With a 40 minute walk to work I was in trouble ( I learned to ride a motorbike) one positive lol.

I’m 42 and I’ve not had children but my leakage was horrific. I leaked when I laughed, coughed, sneezed, picked anything up, exercised and walked anywhere.

It’s the laughing part that upset me the most. I’d leak a complete bladder just by having fun. When your scared of laughing, that’s when you realise your life is sad.

I had multiple tests and it was confirmed I was losing a lot of liquid. My bladder can hold over a litre easily. I was offered the tvt operation.

My specialist made me have 3 consultations just to explain all the problems that may occur and my surgeon explained that I needed to really think about what I wanted and to read up on it.

I did and it scared the crap out of me. Honestly. But I still really wanted the operation.

I think because this op can cause so many issues after, it needs to come down to quality of life.

I can’t laugh. At all. That causes so many problems. And caused me to stay in and look anti-social.

I had my operation 3 weeks ago today and I’m so scared because it’s going so well. I can do everything I couldn’t.

I bought my grandsons a trampoline and jumped a dozen times to check lol. No leaking 😊

I would have leaked on the first jump before.

My urge has improved a lot as well. I feel amazing. I’m hoping and praying it keeps going this way. I know it’s early days but I’m that positive I’ve bought my first pair of light blue jeans.

Sorry this was so long but I thought I’d give you an amazingly positive post. This operation has given me a chance of having a life all my love to all who need this lucy xx

Had Pop repair and tvt tape to hold bladder. Wasn’t told about any concerns about device and new absolutely nothing about “mesh” complications.. 34 months post op started having extreme buttock hip groin pain was brushed aside and each go visit was never satisfied and nothing was really diagnosed until 2 years later watching Victoria Derbyshire she was having a debate about vaginal mesh/tspe ruining countless women’s lives.  Anyway a year on (3 years post op) in using 2 crutches use a perching stool hav grab rails in my loo and bathroom 2 handrails up my stairs etc etc. Last week I was issued a wheelchair as I can only walk a small distance without chronic attacks if terrifying pain in leg groin in fact that whole pelvic area.  Leaves me sobbing  breathless screaming for help.  I am having an operation on 28th of June but hav been warned my nerves are permanently damaged.  Prolapse is back 100% I hav prolapsed bowel colon bladder and my organs are squashed at one side .. incontinence back and also defecate myself.   I don’t go out and hav no life wotsoever.   Take heavy opiouds to bear the pain (bearly touches the pain). and amitripaline to sleep.    Would never hav had this operation if I could hav seen my life in advance.   Very tired all the time feel suicidal and dream of cutting my tummy to pull the mesh out.   NHS shame on you.   I’m 49 years old was 46 pre surgery and done yoga walks swam.   Loved life.  Now I find it a struggle to even put my bin-at top of oath 😢😢😢😢😢
