TVT repair - how long does it last?

Hi everyone

I'm wondering if there are ladies out there who have had a TVT (trans vaginal tape) repair for stress incontinence and who can tell me how long you remained dry for. I had the tape inserted (along with other things) on 17 November 2016 and have not looked back, it's fantastic. I can sneeze, jump, cough, laugh and I'm completely dry...love it!

I'm wondering how long it lasts for and if there are any activities that compromise how long it will last.

Your experience / help is always appreciated!

I had my TVT repair on 30 January 2014 and it revolutionised my life. I'm in a wheelchair and every time I laughed - most of the problem - sneezed or coughed I peed. Particularly horrid when travelling through the US for 3 months every year and wetting friends' chairs. Now, what bliss, to be able to enjoy life again and be free from all that, after 25+ years of misery. I've never had any problems, never even remember the tape's there, unless I'm reminded. 3 years and counting. I'm now 63.

No actually went to being a carer in aged care after training at 60 and still look after great grandchildren always have. Have done office work, shop cleaning, childcare, travelled carry own bags etc . I think I do ok 74 + 4mths now. Yes weight lifting is Parr for the course.

I am still fine no pain or discomfort and no I haven't had the mesh removed. I have had my gallbladder removed with no problems. I do remember reading something about not putting on more than 15kg and I am sure I have can't remember details though.

I do sometimes have urgency but I think it is too much caffeine so I now have caffeine free.

    Hope this helps.

I never thought of it not lasting and wasn't told it wouldn't. Never think about it and was surprised that there were problems and read up on it thinking I must have had something else.

The way it was described to me seemed permanent the tape, was attached and my tissue grew through it thus attaching it to me becoming part of me I was told it would be strong.
