Unbearable pain with genital herpes

I got told I had genital herpes about 3 days ago, my outbreak is awful they're all over my vagina. They're so painful. I've had to have a catheter fitted because no matter what I try to be able to pass urine I can't, I cry I scream! They don't seem to be getting any better I can't walk or do pretty much anything. I think this must be a very bad break out. I'm a mother to one baby and I feel as though I can't mother him how I usually would because I can hardly do anything! Luckily I have support around me. Anyone give me advice to take the pains away? I cannot cope. Thankyou

My first outbreak looked a lot like yours. Couldn't walk, couldn't pee. I found a few methods to help with the pain. I coat the area in either vaseline or zincofax cream (you know, for baby's diaper rash). The cream helped a bit more but I dunno if it was because I was at the end of the outbreak. Try to weat a skirt with no underwear when you can't stay naked. I spent the week working from my bed, in the nude... I took bath twice a day, it helped with the pain. And after each bath, I peed in the water. You have to drink a lot too. If you don't, you're pee will be more concentrated and it will be even worse.

I've tried every cream down there chick, sudo crem, Vaseline, vagisil, bepantham and more. So obviously it resulted in the catheter as the pain was so unbearable I was screaming! I think this is the worst pain I've ever been through and that's saying something after having a little boy! I'm on my period aswell so I have to wear a pad which isn't helping get air to them, I'm on some tablets they begin with an A I think they're the main ones for herpes. I just don't know how I'm going to deal with this, I still haven't come to terms I should have been a lot more careful but I feel disgusting. How do you cope? Do you know when you're getting an outbreak?
Thankyou x

I still have to come to terms with it too. It took a good 10 days before I stopped feeling like crap. I have HSV 1, which doesn't recur a lot. The doc said it might come back once a year, with less agressivity each time (it's the same thing for HSV 2). I have meds I can take if I feel something coming and try to make it better. So far, nothing. When I feel a burning sensation or when I have flu like symptoms, I get worried but I haven't had anything since the first one. I read that the hormones imbalance associated with periods didn't help the situation either. I'm sorry you're feeling bad, I hope you'll feel better soon. Have you tried epsom salts?

Sorry about the late reply, I've been up and down to the hospital. It's been one thing after another. Woke up with tons of blood in my catheter and clots. Great!! But they said to keep an eye out. Not sure whether it's related in anyway. I've been taking the medication for 4 days now and I can finally say they're going, slowly but surely thank god! I'm stuck with a catheter for another few days to a week but I can deal with that and fingers crossed by the time it's out I can pass urine as normal. I can now bath normally as well with no pain which means it's a start. Thank god! I'm slowly coming to terms I guess, sometimes I sit and think why me but it's not only me. I'm just gutted with how it happened. Best advice I can give if you ever have another OB is bathe the sores with warm water 3 times a day, wear cotton knickers aswell. And keep applying vagisil as that's what has helped me out with the irritation. But I guess I cheated with the catheter. Not urinating on the sores really helped so if you ever get another and find yourself in unbareable pain try mentioning it to them. But mainly it's the tablets which have helped me. Fingers crossed I don't have another OB for a long time! Thankyou for all your advice. It's been nice to speak to someone who actually 'gets it' x

I know exactly how you feel! I was told on Monday. Every time I go to the bathroom I cry! I haven't told anyone yet. Not sure I want to. Hoping the medicine the dr put me on helps very soon! 😿

The first is always the worst babe but don't for one second think you're any less of a mother because of this, yes it will stop you doing the same as you did before because you're in pain
But you know what else would stop you doing that?
Sickness bug
Diarrhoea bug
Flu
Broken bone
This is the exact same thing you're still an awesome mother I'm sure of it everyone gets ill every now and then
Normally the first outbreak lasts 2 weeks with the pain getting easier half way through the second week!!
I don't know where you're from but here in England they have something called lidocaine and it's absolutely amazing it numbs everything, salt baths are great!
Loads of water and relaxing x

I just can't believe I have it, honestly it's driving me mad. But it wasn't my fault I guess even though maybe I should of took precautions. I have just been unlucky it could of been something less serious. But the fact I have this for life is really digging deep! But thankyou so much it's so nice to hear someone say that. I've tried salt baths and they didn't work and neither did lidocaine, I'm from England too
I think I had quite a bad breakout. I said on another comment I really feel for those that have this because it's unreal. Never known anything like it! How are you doing? How many out breaks have you had if you don't mind me asking x

It's not your fault and no you couldn't of protected yourself because it's not passed through fluids it's passed through skin contact, so your only way of protecting yourself was abstinence 100% but you're a mother and I bet your baby makes you so so happy!! I think sometimes a life is worth the risk!!
Honestly you'll get over it, I worry about other things now haha, I can't believe lidocaine didn't work for you that was my saviour! I think best advice is to just let it run its course then, once it's over it will never be that bad again seriously
I'm doing really great thank you, new job want to bloody lose weight though
how are you doing today?
Erm well I had my initial (which wasn't as bad as people said there's was) but still kinda bad
And I'm actually having my second one as we speak, I'll tell you what it feels like this time round in the grossest way possible hahaha, you know when you have a bad tummy and end up having the runs and your bum stings? That's what it feels like, completely bareable, but in all fairness I see no sores so it could just actually be from the bad stomach I had the other day hahahaha!!!!
Ask anything I don't mind x

I'm really scared I'm having my second out break already, they all cleared up and I was doing great just waiting to get this awful catheter out so I could get back to normal and I've woken up this morning with itchiness, headache and aches and they're all symptoms! Just as I thought things were going well! I think I've just about had enough! I was up early this morning with my little boy I'm so worn out and down! Bless him he has no clue about this world and that scares me! Looks like I'm hiding myself away again for another couple of weeks, how you getting on? With your runs and bum stings haha! That's how mine felt at first! But now I'm just itchy!! Really itchy! But same as you I have no sores, how have I had a few days break then get another? Then again nothing surprises me anymore lmao. Hope you're good and I'm trying to diet myself, the fact I've just sat and munched a packet of cheese and onion crisps says it's not going to plan!
haha x

Like I just said (before I read this comment directed to me) I highly doubt it's a second outbreak
Only the first causes the flu symptoms, you will be itchy after seriously everyone is itchy and gets a prickly feeling after it's because of the virus lying on your nerves, I really doubt it's an outbreak
Don't stress about it or another one will come on, it will never be as bad as the first and that is seriously an understatement
Hey I'm doing good thank you, yeah I'm feeling fat at the moment, yet I'm here eating a slice of pizza hahaha it's hard being a girl

I'm having what seems like my 109tg breakout. I get them every few weeks. And none are less painful than the first. I ache like flu, legs hurt with nerve pain. I'm taking the medications as directed. Going to Dr hopefully tomorrow and asking for a catheter. Peeing feels like pure acid. Having to miss work and do not have insurance with new job yet. But I'm paying out of pocket. I cannot handle this anymore. I have friends that haven't had breakout in over 20 years and I get them all the time. So I feel your pain. Wish I knew something of value other than mine have not subsided just gotten worse. God bless and hope you feel better.
