Unblocking ear/eustachian tube

Hi Marlene. Is it both ears with you then ? With me it is the right ear and left ear is a little bit iffy now and then.

Hve tried lots of antibiotics and all useless and they damage your gut flora so dont want to take them. The yawning thing helps if it is a slight block but not with this.

ma\ybe the menthol behnd the ears will help. Some people get grommits put in their ears to relieve it and empty it. But maybe it just gets full up again then. My right ear is hurting otherwise i would not mind so much, but when it hurts it gets me down. How are you today?

Get good and bad days with this condition,same with the tinnitus,tend to get earaches at odd times,only since onset to rhinitis,never had problems prior,I've found the weather is a big factor to it,I do take now Migraleve,there far better than odd paracetamol,I've been taking,not into tabs ,if avoidable.My cousin had grommets put in couple yrs ago,but she gets bad Virtigo,so I think her grommets not helped her very much.No one seems to get much relief,from all I've read ,sometimes works short ,but not long term  that's what we all want to get it sorted period.ive been at this for longer than I care to remember,I've not come up with an answer to any of it .not found anyone else either,but we never give up.Hows your day?

Have taken a tramadol and hope it helps get rid of this ear ache, it really is making me grumpy. It is definitely geting worse. I

That's another one I've tried Carmel ,that gives me right headache,got to be certain ingredients in some that does it ,but it's finding which one,impossible task,need a chemistry degree these days,to go figure it all out.have you tried a warm cloth against the ear ,told to do that by dr for when my 2 kids were small.yes it does make you grumpy,when there's no respite.

LOL. The tramadol was useless so took a sumiptran which is helping a bit but makes me have a horrible taste in month.

Have you ever tried a cimetidine tablet?

Last year my doctor thought I had stomach ulcers and gae me them and miraculously my headaches went aqway and my head didnt feel all pressurised and my nose felt better. I did some research and it seems to me that the acid in your stomach might be coming up and getting into the head and causing problems so if you reduce the acid it cannot happen or at least not happen so much. I have been takingthem for months now. A few days ago I tried not taking them for a short time and my ear got worse and my headaches and the pressure started to come back.

Not tried them Carmel,will have a look,never know worth a try.Some say on various sites about yeast infections,being the problem or part of it.Leaky gut being another.The mind boggles trying to find out the causes.

Yes. I think in my case leaky gut or acid reflux and this would explain why taking the cimitidine stops it coming up and causing it or making it worse. Before I took them it got very bad. Since then it has only got bad when I forgot to take them or tried to manage without them. don't like to have to take them because of the long term side effects, so alson take multi vits and minerals and biotics etc to try to leswsen them. Do your ears feel full and sounds are echoey its awful in large noisy spaces. I have a lot of pressure too.

Was interested in the acid reflux solution does it help the fullness I know I do suffer with this and it made me cough for months

Hi Maria. A couple of things. Firstly, I have never heard a doctor say they understand or believe there is a connection between stomach and head. I know I have a problemwith acid reflux now because if I don't take the medication I get those symptoms, the worst being bad headaches.

Sometimes I have a glass of orange juice and whoosh it goes up into my RIGHT ear. Then it stays there for months. This leads to the ear hurting on and off and a fullness as though full of cement. W

Thanks for replying you could be right about the orange as I have been drinking a lot of fresh orange lately.

How does it affect you do your ears feel full and sounds distorted plus pressure they are my symptoms. I have it in both ears 24/7 for 4 weeks now so am desperate.

Have the anti ulcer drugs helped it

Hi Maria. I had problems with my stomach last year where it looked as though I had an ulcer. So I took the ppis for a while to heal it. Quite by chancfe I found that my headaches ear pressure drippy nose and funnyears went away. So I did some research and found out about SILENT acid reflux and asked the doctor to let me continue to take it beca\ues it was so great to get rid of those headaches etc. And nothing else shfted them.

Twice I stpped taking the ppi for a few days and the next thing I new my ear would be all full, especialy after drinking orange juice, it goes up woosh as if it is sent up there by injection and then stays there. always the right ear.

Right now the right ear hurts and feels full of presssure

and as if it is full of cement. It has got worse over the months as this started about 3 minths ago. Lots of diferent antibiotics have made no differnce other than giving me horrible side effects from them. I find it realy hard to think straight, concentrate or get on with anything befause my right ear feels so bad constantly. I know it wont put itself right because over the three months it gradually got worse.

The left ear is fine. I have tried steaming with the nose and ear with very hot water and salt and eucalyptus, I dont think it helps because that would help with ear wax, but it makes me feel I am doing something and not just letting it do as itlikes with me. Please tell me about your problems and history with this Maria.

Maybe it's tinnitus,that will cause ears full feeling,go read up on it Maria,I've got tinnitus,so that why I mentioned it especially if it continues,need ENT to have a look.

My ENT told me in the past week acid reflux causes ETD. I researched to find there are recent studies confirming this and with evidence acid reflux or GERD may also contribute to ear glue. Acid reflux is also has cause sinus irritation which I thought was allergies but my allergy tests were all negative.

Have you tried putting a musical tuning fork on the centre of your forehead.

It worked for me. Within seconds I was swallowing yucky stuff.  This continued for hours but be careful of the dizziness while your ears drain.

48 hours later and my death ear is better than my good ear.

 

Hi Leila. Could you explain the exact process of this as I'm willing to give it a shot if it worked this fast for you. How long did the process take? Which Hz frequency was the tuning fork? Did you ring it? How was it positioned on your forehead? How did you know it was working? In what increments did you perform this and for how long at a time? The more detail, the better. Thanks!

Try looking up the Weber test.  The fork was a 512 hz or 1 octave up from middle C.  The effect was instant (just swallowed stuff, enough that I almost gagged) it continued until I had to go bed (about 8 hours) but didn't drain at all the next day.

The relief was amazing.  Needed more antibiotics and still do (infected scab on posterior wall - near ear drum).  My ear drum had burst due to the fluid build up.  I was leaking pus/fluid ? out of 1 ear.

It only drained 1 ear (my really bad 1 - the 1 with scab).  Both ears ended up feeling still blocked but weren't killing me.  2 months later and both feel pretty good, but still on antibiotic (ear drops now thank god).

The doc rang the tuning fork 3 times.  He held it beside each ear, I could barely hear it with bad ear and mostly hear it with "good" ear.  Then he put it base down in the centre of my forehead about where your third eye is.  I could barely hear it with "good" ear and clear as a bell in bad ear.  Then instantly swallowed yucky stuff. Whole process took about 1 min.

I only had this done once and have spent the last 2 months waiting for my own tuning fork.

I got it the other day and when I tried it myself I could barely hear it in either ear when it was put on my forehead, but could hear it clearly when held beside either ear.  My ears are "better" except for scab.

I'm guessing that you can only hear it through your skull when your ears are blocked.

If your ears do drain be careful of how dizzy it can make you.  I was falling over, 3 times really dramatically on the 1st day and unsteady, walking sideways and bumping into things for 2 days.

Hi Maria and Carmel it’s 6 weeks my ear is feeling the same plugged cracking , popping they have give me nose spray steriod and 3 weeks after taking hi anxiety attacks plugged I put the ear drops in doesn’t go down the ear I feel nothing it’s like it pops out of the ear I’m putting it right in the hole laying my head down they say 4 drops twice a day it’s only tiny tub don’t think it’s going to even last another two days I’m suppose to do that for 7 days and the spray they said every day 2 spray twice daily for two weeks now I’m getting bit blood out my right nose is that normal I should google it . But still feeling not hungry loss apetite  .With me recovering from gbs .Gillian Barrie syndrome trying my hardest to recover before this with my ear I had phnamonia for weeks 7 weeks finally 3 medication helped now this . What are you ladies think is next . I’m going to my doctors Monday cause I don’t feel well all to this . I can relate how you guys feel kind of scary cause I don’t want to lose my hearing feels plugged . I was 1 year in two different hospitals cause gbs life support transferred from civic hospital to the general rehab over stupid flue shot and urine track infection there saying due to flue shot so many cases now of gbs I’ve come long way but can’t go long distance bore can I run stuff but I’m walking use my walker some times I try be courageous don’t use it but walk with dear friend of mine that’s been helping me  through this I’ve been crying most nights bad anxiety due to my health issues . What else should we could we do . What about nose ears throat doctor?
