Underactive thyroid and menstruation

I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid about 7 years ago after visiting the doctor because of my periods becoming very irregular. I had a blood pressure test and my BP was very high. After blood tests they told me I had underactive thyroid. Since then I've been on Levothyroxine. I started on 50mg and I'm now on 112.5mg per day. My periods have still not returned 7 years later and each time I see the doctor they just send me for another blood test. They told me last time that one blood test was consistent with people who were going through the menopause but I have absolutely no other symptoms. Has anybody else had a similar problem with menstruation and thyroid? I'm 41 and despite my latest thyroid blood test showing no change, I'm feeling more and more tired.

I haven't had a period for 13 months now after being diagnosed with underactive thyroid, however I am 50 and it could be to do with the change.

I am 44 and have had an inlarged thyroid since I was little. I have had problems with irratablility since I was young. When I was in grammar school I kept getting into fist fights because I thought I could fix stupid. When I started my period when I was 13 it was never regular because I would skip two or three months at a time. They finally put me on birth control to regulate them. I have always had low blood pressure and times when my blood sugar is between 69 and 73. When they check me for type 1 diabetese if always says I am in normal range. When I was in my early thirties I had them check my hormone levels because of my irratability to the smallest things, they came back normal. I was on xanax for a few years and then they refused to give them to when I felt so vilent that I wanted to kill someone. A doctor tested my thyroid about three years ago and finally said I had low thyroid. I was put on 50 mg and they say they are checking them once a year but keep me on the same dose. I was put on 150 mg zoloft and they had changed me to a generic version of Senthroid. Since then I feel like my levels are crazy. I fluctuate from not feeling good to getting dizzy, and feel like I'm stressed. I feel like someone grabs me by the sholders and shakes me briskly. My heart starts pounding and I get angry. I was a social butterfly but now I can't stand people and I hide from them. I get hyper after dinner and bounce my leg and and can't sit still. I also have swelling problems since they put me on birth control when I was a kid. I haven't been on birth control since I was 22 but still feel the side affects. I can't concentrate if I don't chew tobacco. I can't sllep at night and have tried to work nights but it was not a fix for my sleep problems. I had two children five years apart and both times I had to have C-Sections. The first time I almost died because I had toximia, hypertension, normal blood pressure, preaclamtia, and had to be put on benadryl because I was alergic to the fetus. My Asthma is at it's worse when I am pregnant and I gain so much waight that I have to wear a size 22. I had also hymraged keeping me in the hospital longer and have to go on breathing treatments. I get the kreepy crawleys when I am close to my periods (feeling like ants are crawling on me) just about the time I start my period. My periods and so heavy that I have to use super and plus and a maxy pad. I flow heavy for about three days and then stop completly for a day then start and continue a normal period. I went to a health food store yesterday and she told me that she was having the same problem until she found a specialist who checked several areas of her thyroid I would go to her doctor but I have medical. I feel stuck and abandend  by the health care community. I have other symtoms but these are the most promanent. At Chrismas I lost down to a size 7 after being a size 14 but have gained again for no reason to a 12 in the waste and a 10 in my butt and thighs. I am swelling up again all over and forgot to mention my blood sugars have been in the low 90s. I have always had constapation problems since I was young. I will go two or more weeks without a movement. I have tried everything but my system is like Fort Knoks. It only makes things worse. Fruit, cleansers, powders, fiber, drinks nothing keeps me regular. I take an antioxident and probiotic every once in a while that helps with fatique. Life sucks!

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 4 years ago. I initially got tested because I was always exhausted, constant headaches, pale. I've been on levothyroxine ever since which worked really well for me but a few months ago my period just stopped. For the last year or so it's become more irregular then it ever was but I still was getting them. I'm not pregnant and now after finding this forum I'm thinking it's related to my thyroid probably

em. My doctor always told me my numbers were very high and I was going to need a high doses but could the problem be that I need to increase my dose even higher now? I mean if I do that is it going to bring my periods back? My doc also said he's never seen someone with levels as high as mine who wasn't overweight, in fact I have the hardest time trying to gain weight. I don't understand why that is and what I can do to gain weight (healthily) and keep it on or is my hypo always going to keep me at a low weight?

I have had hypo since i was 9 years old (now almost 30) and even to this day there are times my period is completely on schedule, sometimes late, and sometimes it's a phantom. The biggest cause to this my dr says is not the t3 and t4 protein levels, but instead the tsh level. Both my t3 and t4 levels have been normal for the past 2 years, but when i did a full panel blood test, i found my tsh level was way high. Because this was left alone for so long i now have ulcerative colitis from the constant constipation, high cholesterol from wrong meds, and phantom periods from the severe unbalance.
