Underarm Pain

Where do I start. Hoping someone can put my mind at rest.

In January, I had a nasty virus which led to chest pains, feeling terrible, palpitations, went to doctors, had ECG and bloods, all normal. Was taking Cerazette mini pill at time, stopped taking it. Started feeling a little better, started taking again. Had dull ache under left armpit and sore boobs. Put this down to starting pill again. Chest started feeling all tight and heavy, pains again, so stopped pill again, went back to doctors, slight swelling to sternum area, told I had Costochondritis. Pain in underarm/left side of breast continued, had a good check doing self breast exam, went back to doctors, had examination off the doctor, no lumps felt, no swollen lymph nodes, doctor put it down to combination of hormomes and costochondritis. Painful armpit went away, got my period, started taking cerazette again.

After a few days, started feeling ill again, armpit and left breast uncomfortable. Took pill for about 12 days, then made decision to stop it altogether, had another doctors apt - blood pressure, heart rate and ECG (again) all normal.

However, dull pain/ache still in armpit and sometimes down left side of breast, sometimes ache down arm. Its intermittent, not always there, when I'm sitting and relaxing I dont feel it, its not stopping me sleeping. When I'm doing things around the house, i'm aware of it. When I squeeze my armpit towards my body, I can feel the ache, but when I stop squeezing,

i dont feel it.  Both my breasts look as normal as usual.

I'm sick of waking up every day to this, worrying about it, the doctor says there no lumps and it will probably go away in time, but i'm worried that theres something more seriously wrong, and keep thinking im going to die and leave my husband and daughter which upsets me and makes me think of it more!

I have a 2 year old child that Im always lifting up, and i'm left handed, am wondering if it could be hormonal due to the amount of times I've stopped and started the mini pill in a short space of time, and also if I maybe have a trapped nerve or damaged a muscle in some way.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I have the same thing, and it is driving me insane! It is an ache under my arm, almost like I've been carrying something very heavy for too long. I've had it nearly a month with accompanying pins and needles and nerve pain & aches down my whole left arm. I feel like I'm going nuts. Anyone else figured out the root cause?

The only thing I can think of is the pinched C3 nerve in my neck affecting my arm, but underarm? So weird.

i have read each of your problms in the comments and would like to know if the pain has subsided or still persists.

I felt similar dragging pain in the underarms. It maight be beacause some of the breast tissue extends into the armpits called as axillary tail of spence. So hormonal imbalance can cause pain in your underarms , like in your breats as there is breast tissue even in the underarms. This could also occur if you put on weight which leads to accumulated fat to compress the breast tissue in your armpit . As far as i know , if you find nothing on imaging results, There is nothing to worry . I am myself a doctor, completed my MBBS and preparing for P.G. entrances now

I had this pain near the center ribs going to the left right next to my nipple for a couple of days now. Then it became worse as when I breath and cough. Then the pain move to side of my ribs then it reaches armpit and my back. Its getting worst I don't know what is it. Before I have this pain I catches a terrible flu and it keep me coughing. Then right after the flu subside the pain replaced it. It scare me bit because the pain is in the left part of my chest where our heart is located... I never been to doctor yet... On my day off I'll be... Thank I have found this

Hi, don't know if this will help you, but I've had intermittent pain, sometimes sharp, sometimes like nagging/dragging toothache for donkeys years in my left breast, sometimes spreading down my left arm or into the armpit. Had every possible check going but nothing's ever been found. It all started when I was about 40 and I'm now 61 and fit and well. It's never been got to the bottom of - various suggestions have been nerve pain, tissue tear in breast tissue, hormonal, etc. I've resigned myself to the fact that these things happen in life. If there was any serious underlying problem they will have found it. So relax, have a glass of what you fancy and enjoy your life. All the best.

Watesey! Omg I read your post and thought to myself " when have you write that Antonella?" It is exactly what I'm having. I am full of anxiety and can't sleep just thinking about this. I'm 29 and I was just planing to go through a major fertility treatment. I'm sad. Did you have any answers?

Hi had mammogram and ultra sound In February all fine (over the moon) same sort of symptoms as most of you but I find my face is feeling tingly mentioned to doctor who had already prescribed

Gabapentin whether it could be a side effect of tablet she told me to up the amount of tablets I was taking, have mentioned it again and asked if it could be stress or anxiety she didn't really answer and said she would put tablet on repeat prescription!! Feel like I'm constantly wondering what it could be pain in left breast still there, pain/burning under arm still there tingling in face neck still there !! Keep asking doctor if it could be to do with the change/anxiety/stress beginning to feel like a hypochondriac help!!! I'm 48 years old.

I totally feel your frustration. I've had this pain, started left chest radiated to across chest and underarm. It is there 24/7 to some degree. I've had all the tests-cat scan, chest X-Ray, cardiac work up etc. Dr. examined lymph nodes, I've had recent mammograms.

It's strain my relationship with family because I get irritated.

      Any input appreciate.

How are you, now? I've been reading this thread and it helped me emotionally in dealing with the same symptoms I've been feeling. You see, I lost my 20 year old son barely 3 years ago (heart probs) and my husband last Aug 11(cancer) and I have a handful almost 4 year old daughter and a 24 year old son. I panicked so I have myself tested and the result will be next week. Hoping for the best.

Do you still have the pain? I do. Left side arm, shoulder blade, armpit and neck. My jaw tightens and all pain is constant. I went to hospital, ortho, dr, and sports medicine. Nothing helps except sitting with arm raised and heating pad on shoulder. It is in my neck. It's c-6 and c-7. There is a nerve pain center between those bones that is being "squished". Have an x-ray of your neck if possible. That nerve center controls all nerves in these areas. It gets worse. Fix it early.

I feel relieved to have found this thread. Ditto with having had a really rough virus (felt like a very bad cold verging on a mild flu....aching in joints etc and shattered) followed by sinus problems. When my sinus condition began to clear up - whamo!!! Suddenly a stabbing pain in my left side under my arm. I felt for any lumps and bumps in my Breast, but nothing. I've been to my GP twice now. They said it seemed like muscular pain and was quite common. The area under my arm and towards my shoulder blade has been swollen for the entire time. No sign of it going down. Off to see the GP again tomorrow.

Just to add that I've also been dealing with a lot of stress too recently. Another common factor it seems. Think I'll give the B12 supplements a whirl.

I have been having pain since June ( 7 months). Started on left chest dude. Has moved since then to underarm & moves around chest area. The pain is there ALL the time to some degree. Have had all cardiac issues ruled out. Have had cat scan, chest X-Ray and Dr.s see or feel no lymph involvement.

I do not have any of the shortness of breath or pain when touching area.

I would really welcome any input. Very frustrated, people really don't want to hear about ones pain
